Recently, the workshop \u201cdeveloping the digital technology industry: policy implementation and creating new growth drivers,\u201d organized by the Department of Information Technology Industry under the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, brought together experts, scholars, enterprises and universities to discuss policies supporting the growth of Vietnam\u2019s digital technology industry. At the event, Mr Nguyen Cao Thanh from FPT participated, sharing practical experience and contributing perspectives on developing a digital industry ecosystem \u2014 from high-quality workforce training to commercialization of chip and AI products.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop focused on policies and mechanisms that promote the digital technology industry, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, software and digital assets, aiming to realize the Digital Technology Industry Law 2025 \u2014 the first dedicated law for Vietnam\u2019s digital industry. Taking effect on January 1, 2026, the law establishes a strong legal framework and incentives for Vietnamese enterprises in strategic fields such as semiconductors, AI and software. It provides support for R&D, innovation, prioritized access to laboratory and R&D infrastructure, and policies to attract high-quality talent through tax incentives, benefits and expert visas. Enterprises are also supported in investing in essential digital technology infrastructure and participating in sandboxes to pilot new products and services.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Mr Tran Anh Tu, Deputy Director General of the Department of Information Technology Industry (Ministry of Science and Technology), the workshop serves as an important platform to gather input from businesses, universities and experts on key policies for implementing the Digital Technology Industry Law, while helping to expand effective models and best practices nationwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the event, Mr Nguyen Cao Thanh \u2013 Representative of FPT Corporation \u2013 shared experience from implementing commercial chip projects in Vietnam and outlined directions for developing a digital technology industry ecosystem, contributing to high-quality workforce training, chip commercialization and building digital technology testing infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n

He noted that Vietnam\u2019s semiconductor industry is undergoing a significant transition, and the Digital Technology Industry Law 2025 provides a strong legal foundation for companies like FPT to participate more deeply in the design, production and commercialization value chain. FPT has deployed commercial chip projects in Vietnam and partnered with universities, research centers and other digital technology enterprises to establish a training model of \u201cStudy \u2013 Paid internship \u2013 Immediate employment,\u201d developing talent across three levels, from foundational to advanced, to meet the demands of the market.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beside talent development, FPT also supports research, pilot production and commercialization of Vietnamese chips through tape-out programs, MPW and corporate tax incentives during the first five years of operation. The company is also building Semiconductor Sandbox Zones for IoT, smart transportation, telemedicine and digital energy, shortening the cycle from idea to commercial product from 18\u201324 months down to 6\u201312 months. Additionally, FPT has proposed establishing a Semiconductor One-Stop Office in key localities, applying fast-track mechanisms for projects with strong spillover effects on workforce development and supply chains.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the central hub for digital technology, innovation and start-ups in the Central\u2013Highlands region, Da Nang holds strong advantages for developing the digital technology industry, especially in semiconductors and AI. FPT is one of the pioneers conducting pilots in strategic digital infrastructure such as the Da Nang Software Park, the FPT Complex, as well as AI data center projects, chip research labs and semiconductor lab\u2013fab facilities. Nguyen Cao Thanh shared: \u201cDa Nang can become the national product testing station \u2014 the place where Vietnamese chips are validated before scaling nationwide, helping to realize Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science \u2013 technology and digital transformation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With its experience in commercial chip projects and talent ecosystem development, FPT will continue working alongside the Ministry of Science and Technology, local authorities and enterprises to bring the Digital Technology Industry Law 2025 into practice, creating new growth momentum for Vietnam and helping the digital technology industry become a foundational, strategic pillar for the country.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
