PROJECT OVERVIEW
As Vietnam enters a new phase of development, with transportation infrastructure identified as a key strategic breakthrough, Ho Chi Minh City officially launched Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien), marking a major milestone in the modernization of the city’s public transportation system.
To ensure the efficient, safe, and customer-friendly operation of the city’s first metro line, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Company Limited (HURC1), in collaboration with FPT and its partners, implemented a comprehensive operations management platform powered by “Made by FPT” technologies.
The project not only supports the day-to-day management of Metro Line 1 but also lays the foundation for a smarter urban transportation ecosystem and future expansion of the city’s metro network.
CLIENT
Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Company Limited (HURC1) is responsible for managing and operating Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien), the city’s first urban railway line.
As the operator of a modern public transportation system, HURC1 aims to establish an advanced management model that optimizes operational efficiency while enhancing the passenger experience.
CHALLENGES
Operating a modern metro system requires an integrated platform capable of managing ticketing, operations, customer services, and infrastructure within a unified ecosystem.
HURC1 needed a scalable and highly secure solution that could support continuous operations, streamline operational management, accommodate increasing passenger volumes, and deliver a seamless travel experience through modern payment technologies.
At the same time, the system had to provide a technological foundation capable of supporting future metro expansions and contributing to the city’s broader smart transportation initiatives.
SOLUTION
To meet the operational requirements of Metro Line 1, FPT collaborated with HURC1 and other partners to deploy a comprehensive software ecosystem supporting metro management and operations.
The solution includes an electronic ticketing system integrated into the HCMC Metro HURC mobile application, enabling passengers to use modern digital payment methods instead of traditional ticket-purchasing processes.
An operations management system was implemented to help HURC1 monitor, manage, and coordinate activities across the entire metro line efficiently.
The platform also incorporates automated fare calculation and collection, customer experience management capabilities, and station equipment integration, including credit and debit card readers, QR code scanners, chip-based national ID card readers, security control systems, fare gates, and other supporting IT systems.
All applications are hosted on a secure and scalable cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, operational flexibility, and strong cybersecurity protection for a modern urban transportation environment.
RESULTS
As of 2025, the system has delivered significant outcomes in supporting the operation of Metro Line 1.

Metro Line 1 has demonstrated clear operational effectiveness, helping reduce traffic congestion along key eastern transportation corridors.
