Project overview
As part of the nationwide celebration marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification (30/04/1975 – 30/04/2025), the restoration and enhancement project for the Special National Historical Site of the Central Office for South Vietnam was launched as an urgent cultural and political mission under direct instruction from the Prime Minister.
In this mission, FPT – with akaVerse as the core implementation unit – was entrusted with the project’s most critical component: the supply and installation of the Mapping projection system. Construction began on 11/11/2024 and was fully completed by 19/04/2025. The project became a remarkable fusion of historical reverence and advanced visual technology, transforming the resilient spirit of past generations into a “living museum” that deeply engages visitors’ senses.
Customer
The Special National Historical Site of the Central Office for South Vietnam in Tay Ninh is often referred to as the “Resistance Capital” of Southern Vietnam – the place where strategic wartime decisions were made, ultimately paving the way for the Spring Victory of 1975.
Located within a key historical and spiritual tourism corridor – approximately 104 km from the Cu Chi Tunnels and on the route to Ba Den Mountain – the site is considered one of the most sacred historical destinations in Southern Vietnam. It attracts millions of visitors, from government leaders and researchers to students and young generations, who come to honor President Ho Chi Minh and the fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the forests of Tay Ninh.
Challenge
Although the site preserves invaluable historical artifacts, traditional static displays and informational boards gradually became less effective in conveying emotional depth to modern audiences. The challenge was no longer simply helping visitors “see” historical objects, but enabling them to emotionally connect with the memories, hardships, and strategic significance of the wartime headquarters during 1951-1973.
The greatest challenge, however, was time. To meet the inauguration deadline for the 50th anniversary celebration, the entire process – from site surveys and equipment optimization to film production and installation of large-scale Mapping projection systems – had to be completed within just 160 days.
akaVerse engineers also faced demanding outdoor construction conditions while ensuring that no trees, natural landscapes, or original architectural elements of the historical site were damaged.
Solution
Rather than simply installing projection equipment, FPT deployed the broader FPT Culture Tech ecosystem to redesign the entire visitor journey, transforming the historical tour into a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience.
- Beginning the remembrance journey: Visitors first enter the Memorial House to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and fallen heroes, preparing emotionally for the historical storytelling experience ahead.
- Interactive pre-show experience: At the waiting area, interactive touchscreen displays present a digital map of the Central Office integrated with realistic 360-degree imagery. Visitors can explore and interact with 140 artifacts that have been digitally reconstructed in detailed 3D from every angle.
- Immersive 3D Mapping theater; Building upon technologies previously applied at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, the solution uses multi-point projection systems across curved Panorama walls, combined with digital lighting effects projected onto physical diorama models. Two exclusive films – The Fierce Battle of Junction City and The Formation and Strategic Role of the Central Office – recreate historical events with cinematic intensity, making visitors feel as if they are standing amid the battlefield itself.
- Emotional Hologram exhibition space: The themed exhibition area applies advanced Hologram display technology combined with curved Panorama screens. The artistic film Uncle Ho and Southern Vietnam creates a striking visual effect, making it feel as though President Ho Chi Minh is truly present within the historical space.
- Digitalized exhibition journey: Visitors continue through the 1951–1973 exhibition area supported by four interactive information kiosks. QR codes placed at the entrance allow visitors to download a mobile audio guide app for both iOS and Android, transforming their smartphones into virtual tour guides that automatically provide explanations when approaching exhibits.
Results
Despite the compressed timeline and strict technical requirements, the project achieved outstanding national-level outcomes:
- The project was officially launched on 19/04/2025, successfully meeting the Government’s timeline and becoming one of the landmark heritage technology projects commemorating the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
- 140 valuable historical artifacts were fully digitized and securely archived on cloud platforms for long-term preservation.
- The site evolved from a traditional display-based historical venue into an interactive digital heritage space that connects more effectively with younger generations.
Value delivered
The Mapping projection system project at the Central Office for South Vietnam stands as a milestone in FPT’s journey of “creating digital heritage memories.” The project demonstrates that advanced technology does not diminish historical authenticity – instead, it amplifies the emotional and cultural power of history for future generations.
Together with the Cu Chi Tunnels and Ba Den Mountain, the project contributes to a new “golden triangle” of historical, cultural, and spiritual tourism in Southern Vietnam. It also highlights the capabilities of FPT Culture Tech in supporting Vietnam’s national digital transformation journey, using technology to preserve and illuminate the nation’s proud historical legacy.
