Project Overview
As part of Binh Phuoc Province’s digital transformation roadmap for the cultural sector, Binh Phuoc Museum partnered with FPT to build a Digital Museum and centralized digital artifact database platform.
The project applied advanced technologies including 3D scanning, Photogrammetry, VR360, and virtual exhibition systems to digitize cultural heritage assets and create immersive online museum experiences. Beyond artifact preservation, the project established a digital cultural data foundation supporting research, education, and tourism development.
Customer
Binh Phuoc Museum preserves more than 4,700 valuable artifacts reflecting the history and culture of Vietnam’s Southeast region.
Together with provincial authorities and cultural management agencies, the museum aims to modernize artifact preservation methods and expand public access to cultural heritage through digital technologies.
Challenges
Traditional museum operations faced several limitations in the context of nationwide digital transformation.
Physical exhibition spaces limited accessibility for visitors in remote areas, while long-term preservation of physical artifacts posed increasing challenges related to deterioration and storage conditions. In addition, the museum lacked a centralized digital data system for artifact management, research, and inter-agency connectivity.
The province also sought to create more engaging and interactive cultural experiences, particularly for younger digital-native audiences, while establishing a scalable digital cultural infrastructure for future expansion.
FPT Solution
FPT served as the core technology partner, developing and implementing the Digital Museum ecosystem using a fully integrated technology stack.
The project digitized the museum’s artifact collection through multiple technologies, including 3D scanning, Photogrammetry, 2D imaging, 360-degree imaging, and VR360 virtual environment reconstruction.
FPT also developed a centralized digital artifact database system capable of storing and managing detailed artifact information, including descriptions, historical context, location, preservation status, and multimedia content. The platform was designed to integrate with the province’s broader digital cultural database infrastructure.
To enhance visitor experiences, FPT built interactive virtual museum tours with automated narration, immersive 3D presentation technologies, and user-friendly interfaces accessible through computers and mobile devices.
The platform was developed using modern technologies including .NET Core, Python, React, Three.js, Pannellum, and akaVerse, enabling scalability, operational flexibility, and long-term system sustainability.
Results
The project successfully established one of Vietnam’s pioneering digital museum ecosystems, enabling visitors to experience Binh Phuoc Museum remotely through immersive virtual environments.
More than 4,700 artifacts were digitized and standardized into a centralized database, significantly improving preservation capabilities and enabling long-term digital storage of cultural assets.
The VR360 and 3D museum platform also expanded public accessibility to historical and cultural content, supporting education, research, and tourism promotion beyond the limitations of physical exhibition spaces.
Impact
The project demonstrates a new approach to cultural preservation in the digital era by combining heritage conservation with immersive digital experiences.
By transforming physical artifacts into digital assets and building an integrated cultural data ecosystem, Binh Phuoc Province has laid the foundation for a scalable digital museum model that can continue evolving and expanding in the future.
The project also reinforces FPT’s capabilities in Culture Tech and large-scale digital transformation initiatives for government and public-sector organizations, particularly in areas involving cultural preservation, digital archives, VR/AR experiences, and smart tourism development.
