Project Overview
To preserve and promote the historical legacy of Vietnam’s healthcare sector in the digital era, the Ministry of Health partnered with FPT to implement a digitalization project for historical artifacts and archives at the Ministry’s Traditional Room.
The project applied advanced technologies including VR360, Photogrammetry, and 3D laser scanning to recreate the entire exhibition space in a digital environment. Within just 15 days, FPT completed the digitization of 26 representative artifacts and 63 historical documents, transforming the traditional exhibition into an interactive 3D digital experience accessible both onsite and online.
The Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health is the government authority responsible for healthcare management and policy in Vietnam, while also preserving valuable historical materials and artifacts documenting the development of Vietnam’s healthcare sector across different historical periods.
The Ministry’s Traditional Room serves as a historical and educational space that preserves memories, achievements, and stories associated with generations of Vietnamese healthcare professionals.
Challenges
The preservation of historical healthcare artifacts and archives presented multiple challenges in the context of digital transformation.
Most artifacts existed solely in physical form and faced long-term risks of deterioration over time. At the same time, the traditional exhibition model limited public accessibility due to geographical and physical constraints.
As part of Phase 3 of the Ministry’s “Space Upgrade and Digitalization” roadmap, the Ministry of Health sought to establish a new preservation approach where historical assets could coexist in both physical and digital environments while expanding accessibility for healthcare professionals, students, researchers, and the broader public.
FPT Solution
FPT collaborated with the Ministry of Health to deploy a comprehensive digital heritage preservation solution by combining multiple advanced digital technologies.
The entire digital traditional Room exhibition space was recreated through VR360 and Photogrammetry technologies, enabling visitors to experience immersive virtual tours and navigate the space interactively as if physically present.
In parallel, 26 representative artifacts were digitized using high-precision 3D laser scanning technology. The resulting 3D models allow viewers to observe artifacts from 360-degree perspectives and explore detailed structures with enhanced realism.
Additionally, 63 historical materials including images, documents, and professional archives were digitized in high resolution, forming a centralized electronic archive for research and long-term preservation purposes.
Based on this digital data foundation, FPT developed a 3D electronic exhibition platform operating both on interactive touchscreen kiosks located at the Traditional Room and on a web-based platform. The system allows visitors to explore the history of Vietnam’s healthcare sector, leadership information across generations, and digital artifact collections through an intuitive user experience.
The platform also integrates a CMS content management system, enabling the Ministry of Health to continuously update, expand, and manage digital content over time.
Results
The project successfully transformed the Ministry of Health’s Traditional Room into an interactive digital heritage platform, enabling users to experience historical healthcare content through immersive 3D and VR360 environments.
Historical artifacts and archives were digitally preserved and standardized into a centralized digital repository, supporting long-term preservation and future content expansion.
The digital exhibition platform also significantly expanded public accessibility to historical healthcare content, allowing students, researchers, and visitors to explore the Ministry’s historical collections regardless of location.
Impact
The project demonstrates a modern approach to cultural and historical preservation by combining traditional heritage conservation with immersive digital technologies.
By transforming physical artifacts into digital assets and integrating them into a scalable digital exhibition ecosystem, the Ministry of Health has established a foundation for a sustainable “digital memory platform” for Vietnam’s healthcare sector.
The project also reinforces FPT’s capabilities in Culture Tech and digital heritage transformation, particularly in areas involving 3D digitization, VR360 experiences, digital archives, and interactive exhibition platforms for government and cultural organizations.
