FPT and FPT IS join hands with Lang Son communities to recover from typhoon No. 3
As a start of the “To weather the storm” campaign, FPT/FPT IS, and the Hope Foundation traveled to Chi Lang District in Lang Son Province, delivering essential aid to help local communities recover from the devastating effects of natural disasters and rebuild their lives.
On September 19, FPT/FPT IS representatives visited four schools in Lang Son to offer support to teachers and students confronting the severe aftermath of the typhoon and floods. The first stop was Quan Thanh School, part of Chi Lang Kindergarten. The school was heavily flooded due to the typhoon effects. Its 84.9-meter fence was completely destroyed, and a significant amount of teaching equipment and dormitory supplies were seriously damaged.
FPT/FPT IS and the Hope Foundation launched the “To weather the storm” campaign at schools in Lang Son.
Ms. Duong Thi Van Anh, Chairwoman of the FPT IS Union and representative of the FPT delegation, highlighted that 13 schools in Chi Lang district were heavily affected by Typhoon No. 3. The Hope Foundation, in response, immediately provided support to rebuild education for nine of these schools, with FPT offering direct assistance to four.
“With a mission to spread love, the Hope Foundation and FPT wishes to ease the burden on these schools, and provide essential supplies so that teachers and students can soon return to their normal routines,” stated Ms. Van Anh.
To aid in the recovery, the Hope Foundation and FPT/FPT IS donated items including cabinets, tables, chairs, kitchen utensils, and winter blankets for 30 students and 9 teachers. The total value of these contributions amounted to 208 million VND.
FPT/FPT IS also worked alongside the locals to rebuild the school’s bamboo fence, which had been washed away by floods. Teacher Vi Thi Hai Duyen, Principal of Chi Lang Kindergarten, stated: “The timely support from the Hope Foundation and FPT has brought tremendous excitement to our school, parents and children. It has been a great source of encouragement, motivating us to continue our mission of nurturing and educating children.”
Classroom equipment, kitchen utensils, and warm blankets were donated to the kindergarten and children by FPT/FPT IS and the Hope Foundation.
After leaving Quan Thanh School, the delegation continued to Quan Son Secondary School, where the typhoon had blew the roof off and destroyed the school’s signboard. The Hope Foundation and FPT quickly supported the school by providing a new roof and signboard. Additionally, the team distributed warm blankets to 8 students and 2 teachers affected by the storm. The total value of these donations was 15 million VND. The support not only helped the school repair their facilities but also brought ease of mind and encouragement to the teachers and students to continue their teaching and learning journey during the flood season.
Typhoon No. 3 triggered a massive landslide behind Bac Thuy Kindergarten, causing rocks and soil to crash into the building, shattering the first-floor classroom windows, flooding the area, and severely damaging teaching equipment. The Hope Foundation and FPT/FPT IS donated necessary kitchen supplies and school equipment. Additionally, 11 students at the school received new clothing.
FPT/FPT IS joined hands to help the locals repair and clean up after the typhoon and floods.
Mr. Linh Van Ban, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Bac Thuy Commune People’s Committee, stated: “After Typhoon No. 3 inflicted severe damage, we received timely support from the Hope Foundation and FPT Corporation. This assistance allowed Bac Thuy Commune to quickly address the landslide and help students return to school. We hope the Hope Foundation will continue supporting schools in our commune and other areas affected by natural disasters.”
The final stop for FPT/FPT IS and the Hope Foundation was Thuong Cuong Kindergarten, where the typhoon completely destroyed the water pump and collapsed the protective fence. To help the school resume operations, the Hope Foundation and FPT donated a new water pump and supported in rebuilding the fence. In addition, the delegation provided warm blankets to 4 teachers and 14 students, with a total value of 146 million VND.
