FPT ‘bets’ on semiconductor chips, automotive technologies, and artificial intelligence
At the meeting with Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and the working delegation on the afternoon of February 15, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh presented many remarkable facts about the Group.
Speaking of highlights in 2023, Mr. Truong Gia Binh mentioned that FPT had been employing over 70,000 people. The group operates in 30 countries around the world. FPT recorded revenue of VND 52,618 billion, up 19.6%, and profit before tax of VND 9,203 billion, up 20.1%, over the previous year.

One of FPT’s highlights in 2023 was the first-ever USD 1 billion in revenue from providing IT services in foreign markets.
FPT’s buildup over many years was important in achieving this outcome. FPT has been developing artificial intelligence (AI) for many years, bringing in both local and foreign AI professionals to Vietnam.
“We have gathered a large team of AI personnel, chosen Quy Nhon as the capital, built a university, and developed an AI city there. Additionally, we have created an AI platform that is available to startups at no cost and has hundreds of millions of active users. FPT also develops languages, computer vision and generative AI models,” Mr. Truong Gia Binh said.
According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, AI, semiconductors and automotive technology are the three directions that FPT technology sector will focus on. For many years, FPT has also placed bets on these three technological trends.

Regarding artificial intelligence, FPT participated in the formation of the World AI Alliance initiated by IBM and Meta. This community brings together the top global artificial intelligence companies, all committed to developing AI in a transparent and secure manner. Additionally, FPT has invested in Landing AI, a startup led by computer vision industry titan Andrew Ng.
In the field of semiconductor chips, FPT Semiconductor is the first Vietnamese company to design commercialized chips, with orders for 70 million chips for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc. FPT has also collaborated on the development of semiconductor chips with many different companies and organizations in the US and Japan.

Talking about the goal in the year of Giap Thin, Mr. Truong Gia Binh affirmed: “This year’s heavenly stem is Giap – Moc Duong. The Wood part is technology. It is forecast that technology will advance and develop strongly this year. Thin is the year of the Dragon, which represents strength in Asian culture. Thus, favorable weather is technology, favorable terrain is the power to transform dragons, and the only thing left is people’s harmony. That is why FPT is currently uniting and focusing on developing human resources.
According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, in 2024, FPT Group forecasts an increase in revenue of 17.5% and an increase in profit before tax of 18,2%. After the Covid-19 pandemic, the goal of FPT Group is to employ AI and data to improve everyone’s quality of life.
