FPT IS ready to build a healthcare ecosystem, promoting digital healthcare
On March 11, experts from FPT IS, Cisco Vietnam and representatives of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health jointly attended the seminar “Technology Flow – Shaping the Future of Digital Healthcare”. At the seminar, participants shared their views and discussed the application of digital technology in healthcare and telemedicine enhancement.
The healthcare sector is identified as one of eight priority areas in Vietnam’s national digital transformation program by 2025, with a vision to 2030. Vietnamese people are currently reaping great benefits from substantial changes in the healthcare industry, including electronic medical records, telehealth, and digital doctors. However, digital healthcare poses many challenges, especially for medical units and facilities as well as users.
Mr. Tran Duc Dinh – Head of IT Division under Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, which administers IT in hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, shared his thoughts about the orientation of the city’s healthcare sector mentioned in the new Law on Medical Examinations and Treatments, effective from January 1, 2024. Mr. Dinh emphasized that medical facilities need to outline a comprehensive vision and methodical strategies to access modern technology. He expressed: “Our mindsets and working methods need to be changed to create digital transformation amid the emergence of leading-edge technologies. Change is not just an option but a must, to provide better services to patients.”

Sharing his perspectives as a technology expert, Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, Director of Healthcare Sector of FPT IS, said that the healthcare industry is going through an important and indispensable period of transformation, in which technology plays a key role. Specifically, digital healthcare systems will be built into an ecosystem, forcing changes in medical examination and treatment, and the behavior of patients, doctors, medical managers and medical facilities. In particular, some systems in Asia such as Aihealth Private Doctor, PingAn Good Doctor, WeDoctor, Alodokter, etc. have pioneered the application of technology in medical monitoring, examinations and treatments.

At the seminar, Mr. Phan Minh Son and Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Solution Consulting Engineers of Cisco, demonstrated Telehealth and Virtual Care service scenarios which enable the establishment of multi-platform services that help optimize the experience of patients and medical workers. Cisco Vietnam also introduced an overall solution architecture for the medical industry, including technology infrastructure, security, transmission, and support for high-quality medical applications.
