Ho Chi Minh City Urban Traffic Management Center – UTMC (formerly known as Saigon River Tunnel Management Center) under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport is an unit that serves the following functions:
- Management, operation and maintenance of the Saigon River tunnel and road traffic infrastructure assets within the scope of jurisdiction.
- Management and operation of the traffic monitoring and control systems as well as management and implementation of intelligent traffic system application in the City.
Solutions
- Upgrade 188 traffic light control cabinets at intersections with an integrated system of automatic speed cameras for recording and automatic detection and handling of violations on major roads.
- Install 736 traffic enforcement cameras and 136 specialized traffic measurement cameras. A system of 54 screens continuously displays traffic images, facilitating the Center’s staff promptly response to various situations.
- Collect from 67,000 GPS data (journey monitoring) of transportation business units, such as buses and trucks, for more reasonable regulation.
