FPT IS and Metrodata partner to lead AI and cybersecurity in Indonesia

FPT IS and Metrodata Electronics, the leading IT company in Indonesia, have officially signed a partnership agreement to establish a joint venture, PT FPT Metrodata Indonesia (FMI). This collaboration focuses on developing cybersecurity, AI, and cloud solutions, with the goal of positioning Indonesia as a leader in digital transformation and AI across Southeast Asia.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Ta Van Thong, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Indonesia, and Mr. Pham The Cuong, Commercial Counselor of Vietnam to Indonesia, along with executives from Metrodata, FPT IS, and FPT Indonesia.

Indonesia is currently one of the fastest-growing digital economies in Southeast Asia and is projected to become the largest digital economy in the region by 2030. According to the e-Conomy SEA 2023 report, Indonesia’s digital economy is expected to reach USD 360 billion by 2030, up from USD 110 billion in 2025, becoming fertile ground for the development of AI and cybersecurity.

Under the partnership agreement, FPT IS and Metrodata Electronics establish a joint venture named PT FPT Metrodata Indonesia (FMI) to capitalize on new opportunities, jointly invest in research and development (R&D) of cutting-edge technology services. The joint venture will concentrate on cybersecurity, critical for Indonesia’s digital economy. It will later expand into cloud computing, AI solutions, software as a service (SaaS), and develop software tailored to the specific needs of the Indonesian market. FMI targets to achieve USD 100 million in revenue within the next five years.

In the initial phase, FMI will focus on developing key cybersecurity services, including Security Operations Centers (SOC), Security Management Services, Professional Security Services, Consulting & Security Consulting, and Incident Monitoring & Detection. 

FMI will build a new Security Operations Center (SOC) model, allowing the company to enhance its monitoring services for various clients using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management). This multi-dimensional solution helps organizations address cybersecurity threats before they can occur and impact business operations, making it suited for medium-sized enterprises. This will also ensure the compliance with Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection (PDP) law, addressing the growing demand for cybersecurity monitoring services. FMI plans to develop and launch new products specifically tailored to Indonesia’s mid-market within the next 12 months. By leveraging FPT IS’s strong security expertise, especially through its FPT.EagleEye technology suite, FMI aims to optimize costs in business management services.

Combining Metrodata’s deep understanding of the Indonesian market with FPT IS’s global capability in deploying technology solutions, FMI is expected to have great potential to develop a world-class technology ecosystem, meeting the market’s stringent requirements and positioning FMI as a leader in Indonesia and the region.
