FPT IS CTO: “Innovation – the foundation for sustainable development for Hanoi”
Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and Hanoi People’s Committee have jointly organized the 2023 Capital Region Innovation Start-up Festival (Techfest Hanoi 2023). At the event, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Viet – CTO of FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) has delivered a presentation on “Innovation – Core culture and a launch pad to create new tech products”.
According to Mr. Viet, innovation lays a foundation for sustainable development. Specifically, innovation contributes up to 95% of the enhancement of the competitive advantages of the economy, and 66% of the innovation values will have an impact on the people (according to NIC’s Report).

Over the past 35 years of operation, FPT has always nurtured the entrepreneurial spirit inside the organization, encouraging individuals and groups to cherish ideas, research and develop new solutions through R&D policies, the annual iKhien innovation programs, and the strategies to nurture and develop human resources. As a result, to date, FPT has had more than 4,500 initiatives launched, boosting the labor productivity across the Corporation by 30%. In addition, the ecosystem of “Made by FPT” solutions has been expanded with more than 200 high-end products and services introduced to the market, addressing the demands of both domestic and international customers”, said Mr. Viet.
FPT IS presents the suite of tech solutions to leaders, business representatives, and the people.
At the exhibition area of the event, FPT IS has presented many tech solutions that can comprehensively respond to the problems in digital transformation of Hanoi city in particular and the country in general. Addressing the needs for authentication and identification through chip-based ID cards, FPT IS has researched and developed FPT.IDCheck, the pioneering and currently leading solution in the Vietnamese market that allows users to verify ID card data and perform facial recognition with 100% accuracy, completely eliminating acts of counterfeiting chip-based ID cards. Besides the FPT.IDCheck software, FPT IS has also developed devices such as FPT.IDReader, FPT Kiosk… to deliver comprehensive, convenient solutions to properly handle from remote transactions to over-the-counter transactions, or the self-services at banks, hotels, notary offices, schools, hospitals…
Currently, FPT IS is one of the few providers in Vietnam that fully complies with all technology and security standards and is licensed by the Ministry of Public Security to provide chip-based ID card verification services. In the education sector, more than 20,000 students were verified with chip-based ID cards as they participated in the 2023 Thinking Skills Assessment of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. 11 banks and financial institutions have been using FPT.IDCheck for customer verification for services such as account opening or remote loan.

FPT IS also presents the Robotic process automation (RPA) solution – akaBot that is capable of simulating human operations to perform a large amount of repetitive tasks. Up to now, akaBot has recorded significant breakthroughs in terms of number of global customers, with more than 3,500 businesses in 21 countries and more than 10,000 virtual robots deployed. As an effort to create an ideal digital working environment, akaBot’s virtual assistants have freed more than 11 million employees of the customers from tedious tasks, shortened 70% of the process handling time, and reduced 21.9 million working hours per year. Besides, akaBot also contributes to the enablement of “green office” by reducing 60% of the papers used.
In October 2023, with the remarkable growth in terms of revenue and number of global customers, akaBot is proud to be the first Vietnamese tech product to be listed in the Everest Group RPA PEAK Matrix rankings, one of the three most rigorous tech solution rankings in the world.
