FPT IS is ready to accompany healthcare sector to handle data problems

Healthcare data warehouse platform developed by FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) will be the key to comprehensive digital transformation for the healthcare sector, enhancing quality of medical examination and treatment, aiming towards smart healthcare via adoption of advanced technology solutions.

On November 16, FPT IS has attended a seminar themed “Adoption of IT solutions, enhancing the quality of medical examination and treatment” organized by the Department of Medical Service Administration – Ministry of Health. The seminar has drawn more than 500 attendees who are leaders, representatives from Ministries, Departments of Health, hospitals, IT companies, banks and international organizations.

Delivering an opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue, Vice President of Vietnam Medical Council, Director of the Department of Medical Service Administration, says digital transformation is a national program, and ministries/departments, provinces/cities are making great efforts to implement. Many IT and digital transformation activities are taking place in the sector, such as electronic medical record model, remote medical examination and treatment, etc. Through the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue expects the long-standing technology firms with years of experience in medical examination and treatment systems in particular and healthcare sector in general, to speak of the most “key” points for the attendees, who are key persons to implement digital transformation and IT activities for medical examination and treatment systems across the country, aiming at the ultimate goal of enhancing quality of medical examination and treatment.

On behalf of FPT IS, a technology firm with more than 20 years accompanying the healthcare sector, Mr. Phuong Ngoc Thang – Deputy Director of Digital Healthcare Consulting Center, has discussed with more than 500 attendees about Healthcare data warehouse platform, researched and developed by FPT IS to address the sector’s pain points.

According to Mr. Thang, data is considered a great and important asset of the healthcare sector. The role of data has been clearly proven, especially during the period of Covid-19 pandemic, helping state leaders make accurate and timely decisions. More than 90% of medical facilities across the country have been equipped with IT systems, however, data collection and exploitation aiming for management purposes and administration at the Ministry of Health, Departments of Health, hospitals, etc. have been encountering multiple difficulties.

Accompanying 20 Departments of Health and more than 300 hospitals across the country, FPT IS deeply understands the data problem of the sector, as the Company has been researching relevant legal regulations, adopting the most advanced technologies today to develop Healthcare data warehouse platform. This is a Big Data warehouse, integrating both structured and unstructured data from data sources of disease prevention and treatment, as well as state management of the sector.

Healthcare data warehouse will create a shared database; generate value-added data; formulate a healthcare data ecosystem for people and health service providers via data collection, sharing and contribution mechanisms. The warehouse will also assist in creation of statistical reports and simulations of the IOC at ministry, department or hospital chain level; formulate databases of health records of the people; and consolidate healthcare resources, etc.

As of November 2022, Dong Thap’s healthcare management information system has recorded more than 13 million medical examination and treatment records.

Deployed at Dong Thap Department of Health, FPT IS’s solution has created a Clinical Data Repository (CDR) of more than 1 million people in the province with over 13 million medical examination/treatment records. Leaders of the Department of Health are equipped with an intelligent reporting system, allowing to aggregate and analyze data instantly towards the purposes of state management and administration. Doctors can look up detailed information of patients’ electronic medical records from the province’s CDR in a secure and safe way. In addition, the system also allows analysis and monitoring of people’s health indicators, and actively assists scientific research.

Healthcare data warehouse platform is part of FPT IS’ smart healthcare ecosystem, including solutions for both purposes of medical treatment and administration, built on the principle of “taking patients as the core”.
