FPT IS opens a Representative Office and R&D Center in Da Nang
On September 15, FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) officially opens a Representative Office and R&D Center at Massda Industrial Park, Son Tra District, Da Nang City. This is on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of FPT Corporation, and affirms the strong commitment and investment in developing R&D products of FPT IS, with an aim to join forces with Da Nang and conquer the dream of becoming the region’s leading innovation center of the city.
The ceremony is attended by Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City Mr. Ho Ky Minh, and leaders of agencies and centers in the city.

FPT IS R&D Center is established with the goal of reaching 500 employees speacialized in product making, creating 15 new product groups within 3 years, allowing FPT in general and FPT IS in particular to quickly respond to and comprehensively address problems related to digital transformation. This is also to create an environment that draws and fosters IT talents, making Da Nang a promising land for new technology products, capable of conquering both domestic and international markets.
Based on Resolution 43-NQ/TW issued by the Politburo on developing Da Nang city by 2030, with vision to 2045, to one of the major socio-economic centers of the country and Southeast Asia region, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of the City’s Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of the City, highly appreciates the decision to open the R&D Center of FPT IS. “I expect FPT’s R&D Center to grow rapidly, draw more and more both domestic and international talents to Da Nang, and soon create products of world-class level. The City is always committed to creating the most favorable conditions and environment for businesses, building and proposing to the Central Government mechanisms and policies to promote investment, especially those for Financial center, Center for entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and R&D center”, said Mr. Ho Ky Minh.

As a leading technology firm, FPT IS has been contributing to the development of the economy of the country over the past 30 years. Experience gained through digital transformation projects with the Government and customers in many key areas is the foundation for FPT IS to seize opportunities in the booming digital economy. Accordingly, FPT IS has determined to switch from project business model to product development and platform business model.

With that, up to now, more than 60 key products and solutions under the Made-by-FPT-IS ecosystem have emerged, addressing practical problems for tens of thousands of both domestic and international customers, typically: Semiconductor chip, akaBot automation solution, FPT.eContract electronic contract solution, Smart healthcare, Digital government… In 2022, the revenue from Made-by-FPT-IS products has tripled within 4 years with the CAGR of 25%/year on average, and is estimated to reach 1,000 billion VND in 2023.

With more than 700 leading experts in the field of product development across the country, the opening of the R&D Center in Da Nang will be a seed on the “good land” to create a technology incubator in the Central region, facilitating the expansion of the quality product ecosystem to accompany domestic and international customers. “Da Nang is a city with perfect conditions that promote innovations. We believe and aspire to turn Da Nang into a Silicon Valley of Vietnam. FPT IS will promote the development of products based on new technologies, transfer the product development work from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang, as well as encourage FPT’s customers and partners to move their R&D centers to Da Nang, creating a strong innovation community”, affirmed Mr. Hoa.

Previously, FPT Corporation and Da Nang City have been closely cooperating over the past 20 years in many important projects: FPT Danang technology urban area, FPT Complex office complex, FPT High School, Hy Vong School, and other comprehensive digital transformation programs at city level as well as agency/district levels.

Up to now, FPT’s projects implemented in the city have seen certain results. Specifically, in the field of software export, FPT has achieved an average growth rate of 30-40% a year, accounting for approximately 70% of the City’s total software export turnover, contributing hundreds of billions VND to the City’s budget. As of June 2023, FPT has been educating more than 17,500 students and providing high quality human resources for Da Nang. The company’s contributions to the development of smart healthcare and transportation in Da Nang include: comprehensive management systems for 12/16 local hospitals, traffic information portal for the City… The most recent one is the FPT Complex that is recognized as a Centralized IT Park according to Decision No. 261/QD-TTg dated March 19, 2023 of the Prime Minister.
