FPT joins hands to construct bridges of Hy Vong (Hope) in Can Tho
On November 5, a charity group of FPT Corporation together with Hope Foundation have visited Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city, joining hands with local leaders and people to inaugurate and start construction of new bridges, meanwhile offering a “new look” to Vinh Thanh Primary School. This is a charity activity under the Corporation’s programs called “Taking children to schools” and “FPT – Giving wings to dreams”.
Particularly, Hy Vong 214 bridge in Thanh Quoi commune, Vinh Thanh district, is the first bridge in Can Tho with the name of FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS). The bridge is started on September 9, 2022 with a total construction cost of 285 million VND. With 22m in length and 4m in width, Hy Vong 214 bridge is built entirely with funds contributed by FPT IS leaders and employees, benefactors, and local people. The bridge is jointly built by members of the Youth Union and people in the area. Besides, FPT IS and FPT Telecom have also inaugurated Hy Vong 176 bridge, Hy Vong 186 bridge and started construction of Hy Vong 237 bridge in the morning of the same day.
Hy Vong 214 bridge is the first bridge in Can Tho with the name of FPT IS.
Mr. Tran Chi Thien, Vice Chairman of Thanh Quoi Commune People’s Committee, says bridge 214 has high traffic volume and is the main bridge in the commune. Previously, the bridge was made of iron and the width was narrow, making it difficult for people to travel.
“We are very excited that the bridge is inaugurated today. On behalf of the local government and people of Thanh Quoi commune, I would like to sincerely thank the Hope Foundation as well as FPT Corporation for providing financial support to build the bridge,” said Mr. Tran Chi Thien.

Attending the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Pham Thuy Loan, COO of FPT IS, says: “We are more than happy that Hy Vong 214 bridge is inaugurated today for people in Thanh Quoi commune. This is an important bridge connecting the arterial traffic route for the commune, replacing the aging iron bridge, contributing to building safer traffic for the people and the children”.
As of November 2022, “Taking children to schools” project has been building 238 bridges. The goal is that by the end of December 2022, the project will reach 250 bridges across the provinces of Kien Giang, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau. The bridges not only represent the people’s desire for smooth travel, but also contribute to giving wings to the dreams of going to schools of children in Southwestern area.

During the program, FPT’s charity group also visits Vinh Thanh Primary School, which currently has 569 students but 141 of those are from difficult, poor and near-poor families. “FPT – giving wings to dreams” project has contributed to bringing a “new look” to the school. In addition to repairing facilities and improving the quality of classrooms, the group has also given small presents to encourage the learning spirit of the children.
Mr. Tran Hai Ho, Principal of Vinh Thanh Primary School, gratefully says: “Today, the school is delighted as FPT Corporation visits and assists with repairing of facilities at Dap Da satellite school and gives presents for the children at main school, which have given the school a more spacious view with better learning conditions, and moreover, encourage the children to strengthen their learning spirit.”
FPT Corporation supports improving learning conditions and encourages the spirit of learning at the school.

FPT expects with the name of “Hy Vong – Hope”, the bridges in Can Tho will connect the children’s way to school, giving wings to their dreams and ambitions on the road ahead”, said Ms. Pham Thuy Loan.
In the coming time, FPT Corporation in general and FPT IS in particular will carry on the journey of bringing love to difficult places and strongly spread the spirit of “Giving is forever”.
