FPT partners with EVNGENCO1 to bridge the gap between strategy and automation execution

Recently, FPT Corporation, in cooperation with Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1), organised a specialised workshop on operational optimisation and productivity enhancement through the Akabot process automation solution. The event marked a key milestone in the strategic partnership between the two sides, reflecting their shared commitment to applying technology to address productivity challenges and optimise operations in the power sector.

The workshop was held in both in-person and online formats, attracting participation from EVNGENCO1’s leadership, representatives of FPT Corporation, Akabot experts, and more than 100 managers, specialists and employees from functional departments and member units nationwide. The event forms part of EVNGENCO1’s comprehensive digital transformation roadmap, which is being implemented with strong determination.

Addressing the power sector’s “dual challenge”

EVNGENCO1 currently owns the largest power generation capacity among Vietnam’s power generation corporations, with installed capacity ranging from approximately 7,100 to 7,800 MW, accounting for nearly 9% of the national power system’s total capacity. Alongside its mandate to ensure energy security, the corporation faces growing requirements to optimise operating costs, enhance power supply reliability and strengthen risk management in an increasingly competitive electricity market.

Speaking at the workshop, Tran Nam Trung, Deputy General Director of EVNGENCO1, stressed that technology adoption must be grounded in practical needs and aligned with the corporation’s operational characteristics. Automation, he noted, is not only about improving processing speed, but also about standardising workflows, enhancing productivity and reinforcing discipline in corporate governance.

“EVNGENCO1 views digital transformation as a systematic process that requires careful planning, a clear roadmap and thorough evaluation. Through this workshop, the corporation gains a more comprehensive perspective on technology solutions, enabling us to gradually identify and select appropriate approaches that ensure operational effectiveness and long-term sustainability,” Tran Nam Trung said.

In 2021, EVNGENCO1 and FPT signed a strategic cooperation agreement on digital transformation, aimed at strengthening technology collaboration and improving production and business efficiency across the corporation. The workshop represents the next step in translating this agreement into concrete actions, expanding cooperation from digital infrastructure to direct applications in plant operations and office functions.

As a strategic technology partner, FPT introduced the Akabot solution to EVNGENCO1, featuring robotic process automation (RPA) and agentic AI automation technologies. Akabot is a hyperautomation ecosystem developed by FPT and is among the few globally deployed “Make in Vietnam” technology products, serving more than 4,000 customers in 21 countries.

A key highlight of the workshop was the live demonstration of automation scenarios tailored to the power sector, helping employees gain hands-on understanding of how “digital robots” operate and automate business processes.

From awareness to practical action

Unlike conventional theory-based workshops, the working programme between EVNGENCO1 and FPT placed strong emphasis on practical application. During the event, EVNGENCO1 employees were divided into working groups to directly review and propose automation ideas for their own units.

Under the guidance of FPT experts, the groups developed and presented their proposals to a judging panel, based on criteria such as technical feasibility and economic effectiveness (ROI). As a result, nearly 20 potential processes across various departments—including Finance, Procurement, Engineering and Office Administration—were proposed and shortlisted as priorities for further assessment and implementation.

Representatives of EVNGENCO1’s leadership highly valued FPT’s thorough preparation and deep understanding of the corporation’s business operations. The collaboration is expected to generate breakthroughs in governance practices, supporting EVNGENCO1 in building a modern, transparent and efficient digital working environment.

The outcomes of these initiatives will serve as a foundation for EVNGENCO1 to scale automation across its member units, moving closer to the goal of a data-driven, technology-enabled digital workplace.
