Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang, FPT CorporationGroup, delivered a presentation on the topic “Vietnam & South Korea – An Essential Partnership Driving the Future of the Semiconductor Industry” at the event.

Opening the presentation, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang analyzed the global context of the semiconductor industry, especially emphasizing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. trade policies, and tensions in U.S. – China relations. The pandemic disrupted semiconductor supply chains, forcing countries to seek solutions to diversify their sources of supply. Meanwhile, the U.S.’s high-tech export control measures on China also opened opportunities for emerging markets, including Vietnam. Additionally, the technology war between these two superpowers has accelerated the trend of supply chain shifts, creating opportunities for Vietnam to deepen its participation in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

Next, the presentation addressed the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea in the semiconductor industry. The two countries upgrading their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022 laid the foundation for deeper cooperation in the high-tech sector. In recent years, many large South Korean corporations such as Samsung, SK, and Hana Micron have made significant investments in Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. Simultaneously, South Korea has supported Vietnam in training human resources through cooperation programs between universities and businesses. The Vietnamese government aims to train 50,000 semiconductor engineers over the next 10 years, with the support of South Korean partners, in order to gradually position Vietnam as an important link in the global semiconductor supply chain.

In the final part, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang emphasized FPT’s pioneering role in promoting the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. With its strength in technology and human resources, FPT has developed a comprehensive strategy through FPT, focusing on the design, packaging, and testing of microchips. FPT University has implemented in-depth programs on microchips and collaborated with international partners such as Liteon and IB Tech to enhance the quality of its workforce. Not only is FPT focused on developing microchip designs, but the company is also working towards building a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem, contributing to positioning Vietnam as an important center for this industry in the region.

The participation of FPT representatives at the Vietnam Investment Forum not only highlighted the importance of Vietnam-South Korea cooperation in the semiconductor field but also affirmed FPT’s strong commitment to accompany businesses and the country in contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry on the global map.
