FPT teams up with Creaform – Canadian tech firm advances 3D digitization of Vietnamese heritage
Recently, FPT joined forces with Creaform, a leading Canadian technology company specializing in 3D scanning and precision measurement, to collaborate on heritage preservation and cultural digitization in Vietnam.
FPT partners with Creaform to master world-class 3D digitization technology
According to the memorandum of understanding signed on May 26, 2025, FPT and Creaform will jointly implement cultural heritage digitization projects in Vietnam, leveraging Creaform’s world-class 3D scanning technology and FPT’s strength in solution development and deployment. The partnership aims to establish Vietnam’s leading digital heritage platform, which is on par with global standards adopted in advanced countries.
Globally, Creaform is recognized as a trusted name in 3D scanning and non-contact measurement, with its equipment used in over 85 countries. The company’s technology is highly regarded for its precision, field flexibility, and exceptional suitability for handling complex shapes and materials, which are common challenges in heritage digitization.
FPT becomes Creaform’s priority partner in Vietnam for deploying its latest technologies in the cultural heritage sector through this collaboration. This marks a key step in enhancing the “Make in Vietnam” initiative by developing internationally competitive tech solutions designed and built by Vietnamese talent to address local needs. Creaform’s solutions can accurately capture cultural artifacts’ details, materials, and forms, enabling digital restoration of tangible and intangible heritage. They also support museums, archives, and cultural institutions in building high-precision digital repositories. The partnership opens the door to creating virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and digital conservation and exhibition experiences.
The two companies also plan to promote and introduce these technologies to government agencies, museums, research institutes, cultural organizations, and expert communities, driving the adoption of digitization in heritage preservation.
Mr. Tran Phong Lam from FPT speaks at the event.
At the event, Mr. Tran Phong Lam – EVP & Director of Government Sector at FPT IS, FPT Corporation – stated: “Heritage digitization is a critical national challenge that can now be addressed through world-leading digital technologies combined with deep cultural understanding. Mr. Vu Duy Thanh, Director of the akaVerse Platform at FPT Corporation, added: “This collaboration with Creaform allows us to integrate world-class 3D scanning devices into our akaVerse ecosystem, creating vivid and highly realistic digital replicas. It offers a powerful way to preserve and share the richness of Vietnamese cultural values in their most authentic form.”
Mr. George Tan from Creaform expresses high hopes for the partnership with FPT.
Representing Creaform, Mr. George Tan – Sales Manager for Asia-Pacific & Oceania – expressed strong expectations for this strategic collaboration: “We highly value FPT’s technological capabilities, experience in delivering large-scale projects, and its long-term development vision. With FPT’s akaVerse digital platform, we see an open and adaptable ecosystem tailored to Vietnam’s unique context. Creaform is confident that this partnership will be a powerful channel to bring our high-precision 3D scanning technology closer to organizations in Vietnam, beginning with cultural heritage digitization.”
In light of recent government resolutions (No. 57 and 71), cultural heritage digitization has become a national priority. Digital Twin and 3D digitization have been designated as strategic under Decision No. 1131/QĐ-TTg. The collaboration between FPT and Creaform is significant as both sides aim to preserve national memory through modern technology, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
The partnership with Creaform also marks a new phase in the evolution of FPT’s akaVerse ecosystem—from a standalone technology platform to a comprehensive, open ecosystem integrating AI, VR, cloud computing, and more. It aims to address digitization needs in heritage preservation, education, architecture, manufacturing, healthcare, and other sectors of the digital economy.
