As part of his official visit to Da Nang, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung participated in a working session with the city’s Party Committee and attended the inauguration of the FAB-lab. The Minister’s working program at Da Nang Software Park No. 2 was held with the goal of fostering an innovation ecosystem in high-tech sectors, particularly semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Through field surveys, meetings with local leaders, and direct dialogue with the business community, especially startups, the program aimed to capture on-the-ground insights and gather policy recommendations aligned with practical needs.
During the visit, Minister Nguyen Manh hung attended the launch ceremony of a laboratory dedicated to advanced semiconductor packaging technologies (FAB-lab Project) – a key initiative under the national semiconductor industry development strategy outlined in Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 by the National Assembly.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the Minister emphasized that packaging and testing are strategic links that will allow Vietnam to deepen its participation in the global semiconductor value chain. He highlighted the FAB-lab as a model of agile cooperation between the government and enterprises, with the lab serving as a center for innovation and experimentation. “The Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to supporting Da Nang in developing infrastructure for research and testing, and in connecting with both national and international programs in semiconductor packaging, design, and testing,” he stated.
At the FAB-lab inauguration, FPT showcased its VR Training solution for operating semiconductor manufacturing equipment in cleanrooms. This virtual reality-based training initiative is designed to enhance learning efficiency and support the development of a high-quality workforce (technicians and researchers) for Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.
