High-level meeting between GONSA HOLDINGS and FPT Corporation: Enlightening digital transformation

That is what has come to mind of the leadership of GONSA HOLDINGS (GONSA) after a high-level working session with FPT leadership to discuss in depth how to turn digital transformation into growth momentum. The working session has taken place at FPT Tower, Pham Van Bach street on the afternoon of May 15.

Visiting FPT Corporation’s headquarters, the leadership of GONSA has had a high-level meeting with Mr. Truong Gia Binh – Chairman of FPT Corporation – to discuss digital transformation strategies.

At the official meeting session, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh – CEO of FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) – has affirmed that GONSA and FPT have many things in common in terms of the desire to conquer the domestic market and reach out to the world, as well as the enthusiasm and youthfulness of the employees. “In 2000, FPT decided to reach out to the world, which was considered an unrealistic aspiration by many people. Up to now, FPT has been present in 29 countries and territories across the world, conquering the largest and the most demanding markets such as the U.S., Japan, Singapore… Sharing the same aspiration as FPT IS, GONSA desires to export healthcare products made in Vietnam to countries in the region and the world. Hopefully after this working session, the two sides will continue to collaborate, connect, and have more and more activities to make the dreams come true”.

Mr. Le Vi Hien – Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of GONSA – has expressed his honor to visit and meet the top leaders of Vietnam’s leading tech company. Mr. Hien is highly impressed with the journey of development of FPT Corporation over the past 30 years and expresses the desire to learn about FPT’s successful generational transfer and digital transformation processes.

“FPT’s model is the model that GONSA is aiming for. The strategic orientation of the company is to distribute pharmaceuticals in the domestic market and promote exports to international markets. However, GONSA’s current IT systems are unable to respond to the company’s strategy in the new context. Hopefully, together with FPT, GONSA will be able to build tech solutions suitable for development in the new period”, said Mr. Le Vi Hien.

During the working session, FPT has discussed with GONSA digital transformation practices through success stories at FPT and Long Chau Pharma, as well as digital transformation in HR management and enhancement of employee experience at FPT.

Specifically, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Viet – CTO of FPT IS – has presented the FPT Digital Kaizen Methodology, the digital transformation roadmap in business and management with practical case studies at FPT Corporation and its member companies. According to Mr. Viet, for digital transformation to be successful, FPT has focused on 4 factors, i.e, Optimal operations, New business models, Customer experiences, and Employee experiences. Mr. Viet has also emphasized the role of the leaders in connecting people with 3H & 3C, ensuring success with 3S and addressing “pain points” to promote growth.

Both operating in the pharmaceutical sector, FPT Long Chau and GONSA have many things in common regarding digital transformation. Attending the meeting online, Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen – CEO and CTO of FPT Retail – has shared her “heartfelt” thoughts on the successful digital transformation process that has helped Long Chau reach to the top of the pharmaceutical retail chain market in Vietnam. According to Ms. Quyen, from the very beginning, Long Chau has determined that it is necessary to apply technologies to all management and operation processes, such as automatic sales application at points of sale, logistics management system for product delivery, or real-time inventory management system. Those have helped to exploit resources in the most effective way in the pharmaceutical retail chain sector in particular and the e-commerce industry in general, meeting diverse needs and providing services and experiences of the best quality for customers across Vietnam. Tech applications in management and operation have helped FPT Long Chau pharmacy chain quickly expand to 1,200 pharmacies across the country in just a short turnaround. 

In addition, Mr. Chu Quang Huy – FPT’s CHRO – has also introduced an overview of employee experience enhancement programs at FPT. According to Mr. Huy, making KPIs clear and transparent, applying OKR or the “3 rewards – 1 penalty” scheme into management and operations, or organizing the iKhien contest (an innovation contest) to encourage creativity among employees are those that have helped FPT build happy environment based on FPT’s very culture, i.e., Ton (Respect) – Doi (Innovation) – Dong (Teammate) – Chi (Fairness) – Guong (Exemplarity) – Sang (Visionary). To date, FPT has more than 62,000 employees, of which 40% are Gen-Z. This has clearly demonstrated a successful generational transfer after more than 30 years of operation.

At the end of the working session, the leadership of GONSA has expressed their desire to collaborate with FPT Corporation towards comprehensive digital transformation in the coming time. “We have complete confidence in FPT’s foundation and capabilities. I expect that FPT will properly consult on digital transformation according to a roadmap that is consistent with GONSA’s sustainable development strategy”, concluded Mr. Le Vi Hien.

After the meeting, FPT and GONSA will investigate and analyze the current situation, thereby coming up with an appropriate digital transformation roadmap.
