Ministry of Information and Communications issues timestamp for FPT IS digital signing service
Recently, the remote signing solution (FPT.eSign) developed by FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) has been granted a timestamp by the National Electronic Authentication Center under the Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications.
The timestamp granted for FPT.eSign plays an important role in FPT IS’s strategy to promote digital signatures in Vietnam. Timestamp helps track activities and authenticate the time when information, data messages are created, published, or even changed in the electronic environment in a reliable way. Besides, the timestamp also enhances the security, storage, and legal validity of electronic documents, ensures data integrity, and helps determine the timeline. In particular, timestamp helps FPT IS’s digital signing solution further respond to market standards, especially the demanding standards in the finance and banking industry, creating a great competitive advantage compared to common digital signing solutions on the market.
FPT.eSign is granted the timestamp (marked with the blue frame) by the Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications.
According to Decree 130/2018/ND-CP of the Government on guidelines for the Law on Electronic Transactions regarding digital signatures and digital signature authentication services, timestamp issuance service is a value-added service to attach information on the date, month, year and time in data messages. Timestamp indicates the time of creation and modification of electronic documents such as electronic invoices/records. The timestamp attached to the data message is synchronized with the time of the Cesium atomic clock, a standard time source managed by the Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality. The time that has been attached to the data message cannot be changed by anyone, even the data message owner.
Currently, according to the laws, many types of electronic documents, such as electronic contracts, electronic records, electronic medical records…, need to be maintained for a long time of 10 years, 20 years, or even permanently. In such cases, if the digital certificate expires, it will not be possible to verify the time of electronic signing and integrity of the documents. The legal validity of the documents then cannot be guaranteed, and the documents themselves cannot serve as evidence.
Timestamped digital signature is a comprehensive solution to this problem, allowing all organizations and businesses to verify accurately the time of signing and the integrity of the documents which are maintained for a long time or permanently, regardless of the valid period of the digital certificates.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh – CEO of FPT IS – affirms: “FPT IS is proud to have been accompanying tens of thousands of businesses in deploying digital signing and electronic authentication solutions. Our highly competent experts fully understand the legal factors, processes and techniques of digital signing technology, therefore are capable of deploying the solution in a quick and effective way. Being granted the timestamp is an important milestone for FPT.eSign in particular and our ecosystem of ‘Made by FPT IS’ digital authentication products in general. Timestamp is seen as an important ‘push’ to make the entire paperless signing processes self-contained, ensuring legal integrity, traceability, and long-term storage. We strongly believe that with the timestamp, FPT.eSign will continue to effectively accompany many businesses, organizations and individuals, thereby promoting the widespread application of digital signatures in Vietnam”.
