FPT Corporation’s Chairman gives suggestions to resolve problems of national digital transformation in healthcare sector and build databases for the sector

On June 28, FPT Corporation’s Chairman Mr. Truong Gia Binh meets and suggests Minister of Health Ms. Dao Hong Lan to allow FPT Corporation to accompany and resolve problems of national digital transformation in healthcare sector and assist the Ministry of Health to build databases for the sector.

At the meeting, FPT Corporation’s Chairman has reported to the Minister about the Corporation’s contributions to the healthcare sector. Accordingly, FPT has been building and developing software and solutions for the sector since 2000. Up to now, FPT has been accompanying and assisting the healthcare sector for 23 years in all areas such as: Examination and treatment; Preventive healthcare; Pharmacy; Medical Training and Administration.

FPT’s Chairman works with the Minister of Health to suggest solutions to the problems of national digital transformation in healthcare sector and build databases for the sector.

Regarding digital transformation for the Departments of Health, FPT has deployed specialized IT systems for 18 Departments, including those in major provinces/cities such as Dong Nai, Quang Ninh, Long An, Lam Dong, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, and Ho Chi Minh City. Particularly, the Department of Health of Dong Thap province has pioneered and cooperated with FPT to deploy the Digital healthcare data warehouse.

In terms of digital transformation for medical examination and treatment, currently more than 300 hospitals in the country have been using the hospital management system FPT.eHospital, particularly those under the Ministry of Health such as Cho Ray Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, National Children’s Hospital, National Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital…

FPT is also the first company to successfully deploy Electronic medical records (EMR) in Vietnam, with successful projects at Hai Phong International Hospital, Quang Ninh General Hospital, Vinh General Hospital…

FPT’s solutions and products in the healthcare sector have been serving approximately 20 million of medical examinations or treatments annually, assisting tens of thousands of doctors and medical staff in professional work. It is estimated that FPT’s systems and applications have saved approximately 1 million working days per year for the healthcare sector, reducing the burden on doctors and medical staff, thereby contributing to improving the examination and treatment quality.

In order to continue serving the healthcare sector with dedication and technical competence, Mr. Truong Gia Binh suggests the leaders of the Ministry of Health to allow FPT to continue to accompany and resolve national problems regarding databases for the healthcare sector, specifically: Building and creating a National Digital Healthcare Data Warehouse connected to the national population database (medical examination and treatment data, human resources data, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals…); Conducting comprehensive digital transformation for the healthcare sector, aiming towards paperless healthcare by digitalizing the paperwork and adopting solutions for electronic authentication, electronic transactions, non-cash payments,… which currently are FPT’s strengths both domestically and internationally.

FPT Corporation leaders also suggest to accompany the Ministry of Health in the programs to honor nursing staff. The Corporation also expects that the Ministry will allow FPT Online to organize running events for doctors and medical staff in the sector to spread the spirit of sporting and health.

With the mission of leading the national digital transformation process, over the past years, FPT has been accompanying the Government, Ministries/Departments, provinces/cities, and businesses to conduct digital transformation, delivering more convenience to the people.

After listening to FPT Corporation’s operational report, Minister Dao Hong Lan congratulates FPT on its achievements in various fields. Particularly in the field of healthcare, the Minister highly appreciates FPT Corporation for the company’s long-term vision and in-depth expertise, which is the foundation to set out implementation plans closely aligned with practical needs. 

Minister Dao Hong Lan agrees with FPT Corporation’s suggestions, specifically:

Firstly, the Ministry of Health agrees that FPT Corporation will accompany the Ministry to resolve national-level problems in terms of databases for the healthcare sector, such as building and creating a national digital healthcare data warehouse connected to the national population database (medical examination and treatment data, human resources data, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals…), helping to enhance the management and administration capacity of relevant Departments/Bureaus of the Ministry. On the other hand, the Ministry suggests that FPT deploy advanced technical solutions for comprehensive digital transformation with an aim towards paperless healthcare, such as: digitalization of paperwork, application of electronic authentication and electronic transactions as well as cashless payment…

Secondly, FPT is also the first company to suggest building electronic medical record database for the Ministry of Health. This is a good and meaningful suggestion as the healthcare agencies are struggling with the management of data of millions of patients nationwide. The Ministry also recommends that specialized IT departments under the Ministry coordinate with FPT Corporation to soon build and formulate the electronic medical record database for the Ministry.

Thirdly, the Ministry agrees with FPT’s suggestion to build a centralized system of training and examination for ranking promotion for specialists, main specialists, senior specialists or equivalent. The system, once built, will help modernize the training and examination activities in the healthcare sector, as well as the centralized management of human resources data of the sector.

Fourthly, cooperation in communication between the Ministry of Health and FPT Corporation should be strengthened to organize large and regular communication events for the healthcare sector to encourage units, doctors, and employees of the sector to always take good care of the people’s health, aiming for a healthy Vietnam!

Regarding FPT Corporation’s suggestions, Minister Dao Hong Lan says the Ministry of Health always creates the best conditions and mechanisms for businesses in related fields to develop in line with international practices as well as the laws of Vietnam. The Minister assigns units including the Department of Organization and Personnel, the Department of Medical Services Administration, the Drug Administration of Vietnam, the Department of Science, Technology and Training, the Ministry Office, the National Health Information Center, and other relevant units, to coordinate with FPT Corporation to research and make specific proposals. Based on that, leaders of the Ministry will direct to implement each investment project in accordance with the laws and achieve the highest efficiency.
