FPT IS CEO: Ready to accompany Hue to explore open data and promote digital health
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, CEO of FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS), Thua Thien Hue has complete advantages to deploy open data and take data as a breakthrough platform to promote digital transformation in healthcare.
From August 17-19, Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee has cooperated with Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) to organize Digital Transformation Week – Hue 2022. At the event, FPT IS CEO has attended a high-level talk session and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Thua Thien Hue Department of Health. This is one of the leading key programs prioritized by the province in 2022 and the coming future.
Exploring open data as a launching pad for digital transformation
Attending the talk session on “Digital transformation to create momentum to accelerate socio-economic development”, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh has given his views on the issue of open data and suggested ways for Thua Thien Hue to create breakthroughs in building digital society, especially in healthcare and education.

Speaking of the status of digital transformation in the province, FPT IS CEO expresses his admiration since Thua Thien Hue has been pioneering in digital transformation in the country and has been making major breakthroughs towards socio-economic development. Specifically, Thua Thien Hue ranks second nationally in terms of Digital Transformation Index (DTI) in 2021 announced by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Speaking of open data, Mr. Minh says data is the raw material of the digital economy, and needs to be explored in a proper way. Open data makes economic activities more efficient, meanwhile opens up new economic models. With proper adoption, open data can create breakthroughs in industries that are the advantages of Thua Thien Hue such as tourism, healthcare, education, etc. Specifically, in the health sector, Mr. Minh points out the benefits of exploiting and using centralized data, such as effort and cost saving for the Government and local authorities in the process of searching and collecting information; meanwhile maximum facilitation for individuals and organizations to participate in state information monitoring activities, etc.

With the goal of promoting the digital economy and digital society, Thua Thien Hue has been successfully creating favourable mechanisms and focusing on accessing and collecting data sources in an effective way. According to Mr. Minh, initially it is difficult to collect existing “raw materials”, then it will create greater changes if the province proceeds to exploit open data sources, thereby promoting socio-economic development, drawing investment from external sources.
As a technology firm, FPT IS wishes to accompany and support Thua Thien Hue, a large province, in various fields. In the coming time, Mr. Minh suggests the local leaders to: Develop infrastructure strategy related to open data; Develop healthcare ecosystem with flexible implementation models, data synchronization between hospitals and medical facilities, thereby optimizing costs and enhancing management efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee, highly appreciates FPT IS’ suggestions, and affirms that the province will work closely with enterprises with remarkable technology capabilities to tackle the province’s issues, creating breakthrough growth momentum in the future.
Promoting people-centric digital health
According to the strategic cooperation agreement with the Thua Thien Hue Department of Health, FPT IS will: Integrate smart healthcare and disease prevention services into Hue-S application to monitor and perform healthcare for the people in the province and neighboring areas; Deploy smart medical examination services such as electronic medical records, smart hospitals, and paperless hospitals; Integrate AI Chatbot, AI Voicebot platforms serving the people/patients; Implement picture archiving and communication system (PACS) throughout the province’s health sector.

Accompanying more than 300 hospitals and 20 health departments across the country, FPT IS has so far gathered a large amount of valuable knowledge and practical experience in implementing digital transformation for Vietnam’s health sector. Accordingly, FPT IS suggests that province leaders synchronize their goals towards promoting digital health, including: Increasing experience for the people/patients; Releasing healthcare staff from the paperwork; Enhancing efficiency in hospital administration/management.
Mr. Minh also emphasizes, besides adopting advanced technologies (such as AI, Cloud, etc.) to upgrade medical systems and applications, Thua Thien Hue also needs to focus on exploiting and building open data sources. Currently, data of hospitals and clinics is scattered, causing difficulties in building inter-connected models and platforms, as well as exchanging data horizontally (between local health facilities) and vertically (local health facilities with the Ministry of Health).
According to Mr. Minh, digital transformation needs to be people-centric, and takes people’s satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness. Pioneering in digital transformation, FPT IS has never ceased to develop, upgrade and build an ecosystem of digital healthcare solutions, contributing to improving the quality of local management as well as providing the best experiences for the people.
