FPT IS is ready to provide chip-based ID card verification solution

The cooperation agreement between FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) and Research and Application Center for Residents Data (RAR), Vietnam Ministry of Public Security is expected to facilitate the anti-fraud solution for chip-based ID card verification to be widely deployed in Vietnam.

Recently, FPT IS has signed a cooperation agreement with RAR Center, Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (C06, Vietnam Ministry of Public Security) to deploy and provide chip-based ID card verification service with anti-fraud solution for digital identity verification (FPT.IDCheck). FPT IS is currently one of few suppliers in the market to have complete capabilities and fully meet relevant legal conditions to provide the solution and service to customers.

This is part of the cooperation agreement between FPT IS and C06, facilitating FPT IS to participate in the project on “Developing data application on population, electronic identification and verification as part of national digital transformation in the period of 2022 – 2025 with a vision to 2030” in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Decision 06/QD-TTg dated January 6, 2022.

Specifically, RAR Center (C06, Vietnam Ministry of Public Security) will provide chip-based ID card verification data platform, and cooperate with FPT IS to the most possible extent to deploy FPT.IDCheck solution on nationwide scale. Deploying the solution, both sides expect and believe that electronic verification of chip-based ID cards will reach absolute accuracy, reduce the risk of digital identity fraud, aiming towards development of socio-economy and digital citizen.

Currently in Vietnam, more than 70 million chip-based ID cards have been issued. Chip-based ID card is a device for identification and is the key to access citizen information in the national database system, allowing users to access services that require a variety of documents. However, more and more cases of counterfeiting and fraud have arisen with increasing difficulties, greatly affecting the interests of companies and individuals.

Especially in transactions with a high degree of importance or risks such as: registration for consumer loans, money transfer and withdrawal; registration for issuance of digital certificates; electronic contract signing, etc., recognizing identity of transaction participants is extremely important. According to a research by FPT IS, AI technologies currently available in the market used to recognize identity fraud have posed a number of shortcomings since forms of ID card forgery are getting highly sophisticated with card embryos and printing methods very much like real. Conventionally, it will take a large number of resources for manual inspection, highly consuming costs and time, and reducing the capacity to respond to customers’ needs.

Facing such situation, FPT IS has soon researched and developed an ecosystem of anti-fraud solutions for digital identity verification, including FPT.IDCheck. The solution is a perfect combination between chip-based ID card verification service and AI technology compliant with ISO-30107 (Biometric Presentation Attack Detection Standard), researched and developed by FPT IS on the basis of chip-based ID card verification platform of the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security.
