FPT IS shares solutions to help the healthcare industry eliminate paper medical records
At the recent Conference on Sharing Experiences in Deploying Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Cashless Payments in medical facilities, FPT IS experts showcased their capabilities and experiences in implementing the EMR system, alongside specialized mobile applications for both patients and medical staff. These solutions aim to help medical facilities quickly and effectively eliminate paper medical records, in compliance with Ministry of Health regulations.
The conference, co-hosted by the Health Informatics Association and the Department of Medical Service Administration in Phu Tho, brought together 350 delegates, including leaders from healthcare departments and hospitals nationwide. It provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, update their knowledge on EMR, and explore optimal solutions to accelerate EMR adoption in line with Circular 46/2018/TT-BYT.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quy Tuong, Chairman of the Health Informatics Association, spoke at the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quy Tuong, Chairman of the Health Informatics Association, noted that only 94 medical facilities across the country launched EMR systems, replacing paper medical records. They include 32 level-1 hospitals, 44 level-2-and-3 hospitals, 4 clinics, and 14 private hospitals. Despite the roadmap outlined in Circular No. 46/2018/TT-BYT, EMR implementation has been slow, hindered by several factors such as irresolute leadership, absence of a financial mechanism for IT adoption in healthcare, and resistance among staff to changing traditional working methods.
Mr. Ngo Cong Canh, Delivery Director of Healthcare Sector, shared the ‘Mobile in Healthcare’ solution.
Representing FPT IS, Mr. Ngo Cong Canh, Delivery Director of Healthcare Sector, presented ‘Mobile in Healthcare’ – a mobile application solution designed for both medical staff and patients throughout the examination and treatment process.
Mr. Canh pointed out three critical prerequisites for successful EMR implementation: active leadership involvement, focused investment from hospitals, and readiness to expand IT systems and infrastructure. FPT IS is proud to be the firm that successfully deployed EMR at Hai Phong International Hospital, the first hospital in Vietnam to adopt an EMR system.
While underscoring the undeniable role of EMR, Mr. Canh affirmed that auxiliary systems are necessary to maximize the EMR’s effectiveness. Among those systems, mobile applications for medical staff and patients should be prioritized for early deployment.
Two mobile applications, namely PATIO (for patients) and NUCIA (for medical staff), developed by FPT IS, have proven to be invaluable tools for doctors, nurses, and patients during medical examinations, treatments, and healthcare.
Mr. Canh also affirmed that FPT IS is one of the few providers capable of delivering both EMR solutions and mobile applications for medical staff and patients.
