Hue Department of Science and Technology and FPT promote cooperation in digital heritage economy development

On July 4, 2026, a delegation from the Hue Department of Science and Technology, led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Member of the Hue City Party Committee and Director of the Department, held a working session with FPT to discuss and align on cooperation directions in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and the development of a digital heritage economy in the city.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of FPT were Mr. Than Minh Ngoc, Chief Operating Officer of FPT IS, FPT Corporation, along with representatives from FPT’s specialized units.

The working session aimed to discuss and align on cooperation directions in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and the development of a digital heritage economy in Hue. The meeting represents a concrete step toward implementing the Central Government’s policies on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, while leveraging Hue’s distinctive heritage assets to create new momentum for the digital economy.

Overview of the working session at FPT Corporation

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son said that Hue is focusing on key tasks in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, with the goal of building a digital government, digital economy, and digital society. The development of a digital heritage economy has been identified as a new direction aligned with the spirit of resolutions issued by the Hue City Party Committee. He emphasized the importance of realizing the “three-house” linkage model – the State, scientists, and businesses – and expressed his desire to work with FPT to restructure heritage data, improve mechanisms and policies for data management and exploitation, and implement projects leveraging existing data, while continuing to digitize heritage and develop digital products such as virtual reality (VR360) experiences.

He also called on FPT to support training and digital workforce development for the Department’s staff. Regarding the implementation roadmap, he said: “This is not an isolated project, but an important component of the city’s overall digital transformation roadmap. We hope the two sides can soon identify several pilot areas that can be implemented as early as 2026–2027, providing a basis for evaluating effectiveness before scaling them across the city’s entire heritage system.”

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Than Minh Ngoc emphasized FPT’s consistent view that institutional frameworks must be developed ahead of implementation and serve as a prerequisite for any digital heritage economy model to operate sustainably in practice.

Against this backdrop, FPT introduced to the delegation the relevant legal foundations for developing a digital heritage economy, regulations governing data management and the application of artificial intelligence, as well as potential risks that should be considered by state management agencies before implementation.

Alongside institutional considerations, he also introduced FPT’s technology ecosystem, which can be directly applied to Hue’s digital heritage economy: from 3D heritage digitization platforms and artificial intelligence solutions to blockchain technology for the identification and traceability of digital assets, as well as cloud computing infrastructure for storing and exploiting data at scale. Sharing further on the cooperation direction, he said:

“FPT identifies the digital heritage economy as a strategic direction for the Group in the coming period. Our goal is not only to digitize data, but also to build monetizable and scalable platforms for its exploitation. We are ready to assign our experts to work directly with the Department from the research stage through the development of a pilot proposal, and hope the two sides can soon organize specialized working sessions to explore each group of specific solutions in greater depth.”

Through the discussion, the two sides agreed that the exploitation of heritage value must go hand in hand with preservation, without altering the inherent nature and value of the heritage. Based on existing cultural data and assets, FPT and the Department aim to develop a digital asset identification system, create new products and services, and establish business models based on heritage data, thereby generating revenue for businesses and contributing to the growth of Hue’s digital economy.

Notably, the two sides agreed to study the implementation of a controlled sandbox model for the digital heritage economy in Hue, creating a safe environment to test new products and services before they are evaluated and scaled up in practice.

At the conclusion of the working session, FPT and the Hue Department of Science and Technology agreed to further translate the discussed areas of cooperation into key programs and projects in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and digital heritage economy development in the coming period.
