More than 100,000 pupils take part in the National Final of Violympic 2023
The National final round of Violympic 2022-2023 has taken place on April 8 and 9 and is participated by more than 100,000 pupils nationwide, 6 times higher compared to the pandemic period.
Violympic is a completely free national competition on the Internet in Mathematics, Vietnamese language, and Physics, organized by FPT Corporation. The playground is held annually since 2008 for pupils from grade 1 to grade 12 nationwide, and is one of the largest, the most long-standing and favourite knowledge arenas in Vietnam.
This is also the first time in 16 years that the National final round of the Violympic records such a high number of participating pupils. With a record number of examinees from nearly 700 exam clusters across the country, this year the final round is held in two days. 100% of examinees pre-registered with the organizing committee have shown up at exam clusters. The final round is monitored in a strict and transparent way, as the organizing committee strengthens the monitoring team across all exam clusters via online form. Exam code is given to each grade level and the code will expire 10 minutes after the exam starts.
The national final round of Violympic 2023 is participated by more than 100,000 pupils.
The 2022 – 2023 National final round includes Physics exam for grade 12; Vietnamese language exam for grades 2, 3, 4, 5; English math exam for grades 4, 5, 6, 8; and Vietnamese math exam for grades 2 to 10. Notably, this is the first school year that the playground includes the Vietnamese language subject for elementary grade, which is highly welcomed by a large number of parents and pupils, increasing the total number of participating pupils to 3 million.
This playground of more than 40 million Vietnamese pupils continues to be a trusted and increasingly amazing place for knowledge exchange. Hanoi, Phu Tho, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Vung Tau, Kien Giang, Dak Nong, Dak Lak are those with consistently high rate of participation over the years.
At the beginning of the school year, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued an Official dispatch no. 5943/BGDĐT-GDTrH agreeing with the program to deploy the Violympic playground, which is the basis for Departments of Education and Training to consider and promote the online playground for local pupils. In addition, since Violympic has included new subjects, opened the national round for some grade levels, added free practice functions, off-loaded the amount of knowledge and time taken for each exam round…, those have allowed the children to approach the playground in a more convenient way.
Representative of the Violympic organizing committee adds that, in order to ensure the quality of the largest-scale playground in the country, every year Violympic always strives to improve in terms of systems, technologies, and knowledge contents. The playground has upgraded features to enhance the security for pupils’ and teachers’ accounts, such as authentication for new registration, granting of passwords via OTP, etc.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, currently, the Internet has covered over 99.7% of villages nationwide, nearly 100% of adults now have access to the Internet. In the midst of information saturation and the explosion of online learning channels, trusted and quality online playgrounds will continue to draw an increasing number of pupils to participate over the years.

Speaking of the reason why the school has been participating in the playground for the past consecutive 15 years, a representative of Nguyen Binh Khiem private primary school (Dak Lak) says, the Violympic creates excellent conditions for the pupils to practice and access technologies. Due to the limited number of IT sessions at school, online playgrounds such as Violympic are good opportunities for the pupils to interact more with the computers, approach an effective self-studying method with the help of technologies and the Internet, as well as strengthen their knowledge in Math, Vietnamese language, and English math. The playground creates a more active and vibrant teaching and learning motivation for both the teachers and the pupils with the usefulness of its own and practical incentives from the school.
To win the final round, the pupils need to pass the previous 9 rounds of Math, Physics and 6 rounds of Vietnamese language. This gives the children the opportunity to access thousands of exercises, thereby accumulating knowledge persistently, enhancing the ability to remember and apply knowledge in both breadth and depth. On average, there will be 4 – 6 million pupils participating in the playground annually, of which there are approximately 8,000 – 10,000 pupils winning prizes. Many pupils winning the playground have been fueled to conquer other national and international contests. The playground is not only a place to connect pupils who are eager to learn, but also an opportunity for them to practice, rise and shine.
After the National round completes, the organizing committee will conduct the evaluation, announce the results, and award prizes. The prizes include in-kind awards, medals, and certificates of national level. This year, it is projected that there will be a large number of 22,000 pupils winning prizes, accordingly, FPT Corporation is planning to organize award ceremonies in 3 regions separately. The total cost of organization will be up to 4 billion VND, while the prizes alone are worth nearly 2 billion VND.
