VioEdu launches two new subjects, adopting digital technologies to help children learn better

On March 6, 2023, the VioEdu online education system, a part of the technology ecosystem of FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS), has launched two new subjects including Vietnamese language and English math, aiming towards the goal to become an Edtech product that supplements knowledge for the public school curriculum in the most effective and quality way for pupils across the country.

After the success of the Math subject with the number of users of up to 10 million pupils, VioEdu has recently expanded and launched two new subjects, namely Vietnamese language and English math for grade 1 to grade 5. A trial version of the subjects has been available for use at no charge from August 2022. After more than six months, the system has recorded nearly 20 million uses. Based on useful comments and feedback from a large number of pupils, parents, and teachers, VioEdu has quickly updated and adjusted the form and content of the subjects to come up with an official version.

Unlike Math, which is characterized by logic, fixed formulas, and correct answers, Vietnamese is an abstract, aesthetic, and humanistic subject that not only helps to form thinking and language skills, but also nurtures good emotions and positive life attitude for children. Constructing the Vietnamese language subject on an online platform poses high requirements in terms of content selection as well as design and technology. That’s why the Vietnamese subject has taken VioEdu team years of study and pilot implementation before it is officially launched.

To achieve the subject’s goals, VioEdu has designed video lectures with light-hearted and close-to-life situations, revolving around two or three familiar characters to attract children’s psychology, helping them understand the lessons as effectively as when learning in school. The duration of each video is not too long, suitable for the concentration ability of primary school pupils.

Lectures on VioEdu are designed in the form of animations, conveying knowledge via close-to-life, easy-to-understand, and humane situations.

Ms. Nguyen Bao Khanh, a specialist from Hanoi Department of Education and Training, says: “Learning Vietnamese language well since elementary school will create a foundation for children to develop linguistic awareness, which is a necessary preparation for them to learn the Literature subject in secondary school. This not only helps the children to learn school subjects well, but also contributes to fostering the EQ, developing necessary soft skills and life skills, which will greatly help them in future careers.”

Also according to Ms. Khanh, VioEdu’s 500 lecture videos and 200,000 practice questions are presented in an attractive format. This is a trusted source of learning materials for pupils to self-study and parents to refer to and supplement knowledge regarding the Vietnamese language for their children.

While the Vietnamese language subject helps develop linguistic awareness and contributes to personality formation for the children and Math subject trains logical awareness, English math subject is useful in both ways. Launching the subject, VioEdu aims to open up opportunities for Vietnamese pupils to approach international mathematical thinking, improve their English vocabulary to get ready for international math contests or abroad study in the future. VioEdu’s English math subject is currently available for grade 1 to grade 5, with nearly 300,000 exercises from basic to advanced.

In addition, VioEdu’s subjects are well designed in terms of contents, closely following the public school curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Training, meeting the criteria on capability assessment and output standards under the new general education program. Artificial intelligence is adopted to detect strengths and weaknesses of the pupils, thereby suggesting a specific route to effectively improve and supplement knowledge for each pupil. Thorough adoption of educational technology in design of computer operations, “gamification” of exercises, optimization of graphic quality continues to be VioEdu’s strength when developing new subjects.
