Genfarma partners with FPT to launch Cloud ERP system, targeting completion within two months
Genfarma Joint Stock Company and FPT Corporation have just launched a project to implement the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public enterprise management system, with an expected completion timeline of just 2 months. Implementing a Cloud ERP platform from the early stages of development is expected to enable Genfarma – a newly established biopharmaceutical company in Vietnam, to rapidly build an international-standard management system and accelerate its strategy in developing high-tech biopharmaceutical products.
Genfarma’s enterprise management system implementation officially begins, targeting go-live on May 15
According to the project plan, the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public implementation at Genfarma will cover core business functions, including finance and accounting, procurement management, supply chain, and warehouse management. The system will enable the company to operate in alignment with international governance standards on a cloud computing platform. In addition, it will be tightly integrated with other applications within the overall enterprise architecture to establish a unified data platform, ensuring seamless data flow, synchronized operations, and optimized performance and operational efficiency.
The implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public at Genfarma takes place amid rapid growth in Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry, with market size increasing from approximately USD 2.7 billion in 2015 to nearly USD 7 billion in 2025, and projected to reach USD 10 billion by 2026. However, most original branded drugs remain dominated by global pharmaceutical corporations, while many domestic companies primarily focus on generic drug production. This fuels the trend of investing in biotechnology and developing high-tech pharmaceutical products.
As one of the few pharmaceutical companies established with this strategic orientation, Genfarma is focusing on research, development, and manufacturing of advanced biological products for the treatment of oncology, hematology, neurology, and related conditions. At the same time, the company is expanding international partnerships to acquire advanced technologies. Genfarma is also working toward building manufacturing systems that meet international standards such as GMP-WHO and EU-GMP, aiming to satisfy stringent quality requirements in the biopharmaceutical sector. In 2025, the company signed agreements to receive technology transfer from Cuban research institutes and biotech enterprises, opening opportunities to access advanced biopharmaceutical technologies, particularly in oncology treatments and recombinant biological products.
To realize its ambitions in the biopharmaceutical sector, where governance standards and quality control requirements are exceptionally stringent, Genfarma recognizes that beyond R&D and manufacturing capabilities, it must establish a modern enterprise management system capable of integrating all operational activities, ensuring transparency, and enhancing management efficiency. As a result, the company has decided to digitize and upgrade its enterprise management platform with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public from the early stages of its development.
Mr. Bui Le Khoa, CEO of Genfarma, said that the SAP project is an important step in building the company’s operational platform.
Mr. Bui Le Khoa – CEO of Genfarma, stated that the SAP project represents a critical step in building the company’s operational foundation. Speaking at the project launch ceremony, he emphasized: “In the pharmaceutical industry, and especially in the biotechnology field that Genfarma is pursuing, quality standards and process controls leave no room for error. Therefore, establishing a modern management platform from the outset is critically important. Genfarma views digital transformation as a vital factor for its long-term development strategy. We are fully committed in terms of resources and leadership support to collaborate with FPT and SAP to ensure the success of this project.”
Mr. Dinh Tien Hoang of FPT Group expressed his commitment to partnering with Genfarma in building a digital governance platform.
From FPT’s side, Mr. Dinh Tien Hoang – Senior Vice President and Deputy Director of Enterprise Sector, stated: “Partnering with the pharmaceutical industry is one of FPT’s strategic priorities. With over 23 years of experience in implementing SAP ERP solutions for leading enterprises in Vietnam, FPT is committed to mobilizing its top experts to ensure the project is delivered on schedule.”
FPT has also developed and introduced a next-generation Cloud ERP implementation model called “The Next ERP,” enabling enterprises to adopt SAP’s international-standard management platform within as little as 3 months and at optimized costs. The Genfarma project serves as a representative case study, demonstrating the determination and strategic vision of a Vietnamese R&D and manufacturing enterprise in its digital transformation journey, as well as the value of technology when applied through modern implementation approaches.
Representing SAP Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Hong Viet expressed his expectations for the project’s success.
Representing SAP Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Hong Viet stated: “SAP is honored to partner with FPT in supporting Genfarma on this important project. With the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public platform already localized for the Vietnamese market, combined with FPT’s implementation expertise and Genfarma’s leadership commitment, we believe all key success factors are in place.”
In Vietnam, FPT is a Gold Partner of SAP in the Asia-Pacific region and the first company to achieve specialized certification in ERP implementation, with a strategic vision of becoming a leading expert in SAP Cloud deployment for the domestic market. In the pharmaceutical sector specifically, FPT has partnered with major enterprises such as Boston Pharma, GONSA, Bidipha, Vinphaco, and Pharmedic. As of 2025, FPT has been recognized by SAP for 10 consecutive years with multiple awards, including 6 “Best Partner of the Year” titles, further solidifying its position as a leading regional technology partner.
Amid the rapid growth of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry and increasing demands for advanced management capabilities, the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public project at Genfarma is expected to serve as a robust operational foundation, enabling the company to accelerate its biopharmaceutical development strategy in the next phase.
