Proactive in an Ever-Changing Cybersecurity Landscape with FPT and Check Point
Recently in Ho Chi Minh City, FPT and Check Point organized the seminar “Navigating the New Cybersecurity Landscape”, bringing in-depth perspectives and proactive cybersecurity directions to help businesses identify risks and strengthen their capabilities to protect data infrastructure.
The rapid growth of AI, cloud computing, and connected ecosystems is opening up new growth opportunities while significantly expanding businesses’ attack surfaces. Cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated, organized, and directly targeting core data and critical operational infrastructure. According to statistics from the National Cybersecurity Association, approximately 552,000 cyberattacks targeting information systems were recorded in Vietnam in 2025, while 47.72% of surveyed organizations and businesses reported a shortage of cybersecurity personnel. These figures show that information security is no longer simply a matter of adding individual layers of defense, but requires businesses to build proactive and flexible security capabilities that are sufficiently adaptable to continuously evolving forms of attack.
At the opening of the program, Mr. Bui Thach Son – Deputy Director of Cybersecurity and Information Security, FPT IS, FPT Corporation, shared:
“AI is changing not only the way businesses operate but also the methods of attack, as phishing emails, malware, and vulnerability scanning activities can be automated at increasingly high speeds. In response to this reality, businesses need to shift from using fragmented security tools to an integrated platform, strengthen prevention from the outset, and apply AI, threat intelligence, and automation to shorten response times. From a response perspective, to counter AI-powered attacks, businesses need a sufficiently strong platform, rather than simply adding another tool, thereby proactively building adaptive security capabilities against new threats.”
Building on the changes brought about by AI in cybersecurity, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thuong – Territory Manager, Check Point continued by clarifying new challenges and noting that the cybersecurity landscape is changing rapidly, as AI expands the attack surface and increases the asymmetry between attackers and defenders. When the rate of successful vulnerability exploitation can increase from 20% to 98% within four months, while the time required to exploit a vulnerability is reduced to approximately 21 minutes, information security teams can no longer rely solely on traditional patching processes. “AI for Security” will help security teams accelerate threat detection, make more effective use of data, and focus on critical risks. At the same time, “Security for AI” creates requirements for protecting users, applications, and AI Agents.
Following the above discussion, Mr. Ngo Trung Truc – Sales Engineer from Check Point noted that as hackers have applied AI to increase the speed and complexity of attacks, defenders also need to apply AI to proactively adapt. With Check Point, AI is integrated into ThreatCloud AI to analyze threat data and update detection information across security solutions. At the same time, AI Security helps businesses control the entire process of AI usage through three steps: Discover, Control, and Protect, from identifying tools and setting access permissions to protecting data and preventing risks such as Prompt Injection. The important point is that businesses need to apply AI through a strategy that is both secure and effective.
Moving from the proactive defense challenge, Mr. Phan Van Ninh – Security Engineer, FPT IS, FPT Corporation continued to delve into email security with a Prevention First approach, noting that AI is helping attackers automate online phishing processes, generate more emails with greater effectiveness, while also creating new risks such as Email Agent Hijacking, where malicious emails can directly affect AI Agents without requiring user interaction. Therefore, defense needs to shift from handling emails after they enter the mailbox to Prevention First, blocking emails before they enter the mailbox to protect both users and AI systems. With AI-Native and API-Based Solutions, Check Point integrates ThreatCloud AI, analyzes millions of phishing emails, and enables rapid deployment of Email Security, thereby enhancing the ability to identify and prevent new threats.
