FPT eID achieves highest level of compliance with international standard ISO/IEC 30107-3 for biometric anti-spoofing
FPT eID – the electronic identity authentication solution developed by FPT – has successfully passed the Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) Level 2 assessment under the international standard ISO/IEC 30107-3, evaluated by iBeta. This achievement reaffirms FPT eID’s capability to detect and prevent facial biometric spoofing attempts. With this milestone, FPT becomes one of the very few organizations in Vietnam to simultaneously hold PAD certifications from both iBeta and BixeLab across two levels, meeting international standards and demonstrating readiness to counter today’s most sophisticated fraud scenarios.

ISO/IEC 30107-3 is the international standard designed to evaluate the capability of biometric systems in detecting and preventing facial spoofing. Within this framework, Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) Level 2 requires systems to undergo a rigorous 6–8 week testing process against at least five sophisticated spoofing techniques, including silicon masks, 2D and 3D masks, deepfake videos, and more, with an intrusion rate of less than 1% permitted. As such, PAD represents a significant challenge for biometric authentication solutions due to its meticulous procedures, stringent requirements, and high technical demands.
Test results demonstrated that FPT eID far exceeded the required threshold, delivering outstanding accuracy with an exceptionally low error rate of just 0.02% in detecting and blocking fraudulent attempts, while maintaining reliable recognition for legitimate users.
The PAD Level 2 certification achieved by FPT eID is particularly noteworthy as it was awarded by iBeta – a testing laboratory accredited by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). iBeta applies the ISO/IEC 30107-3 standard to evaluate PAD system performance and is widely recognized as one of the most rigorous laboratories in the field of biometric anti-spoofing testing.

Previously, FPT eID was also awarded dual certifications by BixeLab (Australia) – a biometric testing laboratory accredited by the FIDO Alliance: ISO/IEC 30107-3 Level 1 & 2 for facial biometric anti-spoofing technology, and ISO/IEC 19795-2 for facial comparison technology. These certifications help minimize fraud risks, enhance reliability in customer identification, and safeguard individuals in digital financial transactions amid increasingly sophisticated scams.

The solution has already recorded more than 100 million successful authentications, serving over 200 clients, including leading financial institutions, banks, securities firms, and enterprises both in Vietnam and abroad. In an era where online transactions operate 24/7 and fraud schemes are becoming more sophisticated, the recent enactment of Decision 2345/QD-NHNN on the mandatory implementation of biometric authentication underscores an urgent need for financial institutions to strengthen security measures. While statistics from the State Bank of Vietnam show a downward trend in financial fraud cases in the first half of 2025, the Ministry of Public Security has warned of emerging tactics exploiting facial biometric authentication. Criminals are leveraging AI and deepfake technology to impersonate users during eKYC processes or online transactions, creating a serious new security threat for the banking and financial systems.
