FPT IS suggests hospitals to conduct digital transformation in a patient-centric way
Patient-centric digital transformation based on a comprehensive solution with the principle of “people’s war”, data-driven decision making and flexible deployment model are major points that Mr. Nguyen Xuan Viet, Chief Technology Officer, FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS), suggests to hospitals.
On last June 20, Medtech 4.0 Exhibition and Conference organized by Vietnam Medical Association and BHub Group has taken place. FPT IS is the only technology developer to take part in the Plenary and Leader talk sessions of the event.
Delivering an opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kinh, Standing Vice Chairman of Vietnam Medical Association, says: “The event is a forum for organizations to discuss solutions and help the Ministry of Health to establish policies and strategies, health facilities to meet infrastructure requirements for digital transformation, medical staff to adapt to new technologies, thereby addressing the people’s needs for medical examination/treatment and healthcare”.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Nam, Deputy Director of the IT Department of the Vietnam Ministry of Health, delivers a presentation on a topic of “Major issues in digital transformation in the field of healthcare in Vietnam for the period of 2022 – 2025”. Mr. Nam affirms that to conduct digital transformation in a successful, effective, and legal-binding way, it is necessary to transform awareness, establish appropriate mechanism, develop digital infrastructure, digital data, and digital platforms, meanwhile, ensure information security and enhance the development of resources. So far, hospitals have made positive responses towards digital transformation, however, there still exist multiple limitations such as: A number of hospitals have yet paid enough attention to IT adoption and digital transformation, leading to a lack of synchronization; Lack of connectivity, communication and exchange between systems and software; Limited financial mechanism for digital transformation; Limited IT capacity in health facilities, etc. Accordingly, Mr. Nam offers a number of suggestions for digital transformation in hospitals, specifically: Developing paperless hospitals; Using electronic medical records, digital films, electronic prescriptions, electronic health records; Promoting remote healthcare; Adopting digital technologies such as AI, Big Data, IoT, etc.

From the perspective of a solution provider, delivering a presentation on the topic of “Patient-centric digital transformation in hospitals”, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Viet, CTO of FPT IS, starts by discussing the approach as well as the methodology for digital transformation – FPT Digital Kaizen. Mr. Viet uses the concept of “people’s war” to describe a synchronous and drastic way of “kickstarting”, implementing changes at all levels starting from the leaders, synchronously towards the goal of better serving the patients and people. “It is necessary to take good care of the patients even before they arrive at hospitals, showing them love, care, and excellent service as if they are in a hotel or taking a plane,” said Mr. Viet.
Mr. Viet affirms that FPT’s approach to digital transformation in healthcare is patient-centric model, data-driven decision-making, ecosystem development, and experience enhancement. With more than 20 years accompanying the healthcare industry, FPT IS currently owns a comprehensive ecosystem of digital healthcare solutions and never ceases to keep up with the latest trends, adopts the most advanced 4.0 technologies to complete, upgrade solutions with an aim of multi-dimensional services towards senior management, doctors/nurses and especially the people. FPT IS’s digital healthcare ecosystem has been an “excellent assistant” at more than 300 hospitals and 20 health departments across the country.

Particularly, at the event, Colonel, PhD.Dr. Tran Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 175, highly appreciates and praises FPT IS’ smart hospital management system (FPT.eHospital 2.0+) in his presentation on Digital transformation experience at Military Hospital 175.
Regarding the adoption of 4.0 technologies, so far, with AI self-recognition to assist doctors to detect abnormalities in electronic medical records, chatbot automatic response, etc., FPT IS’ medical solutions not only bring a “fresh new wind” to hospital operation and management activities but also contribute to enhancing the quality of medical examination and treatment.

In the talkshow session with the theme of “Digital transformation in hospitals: From policy to practice”, responding to financial difficulties when implementing digital transformation in hospitals, Mr. Viet says FPT IS is currently offering multiple plans of deployment appropriate to the scale and budget of each hospital. “Instead of purchasing hardware and software as a package as before, FPT IS offers a variety of lease models for hospitals to choose depending on conditions and needs. Moreover, in addition to leasing software licenses as before, FPT IS now offers a form of subscription, which means that hospitals only need to pay for each service process used”, said Mr. Viet.
FPT IS’ booth in the exhibition area of the event also draws great attention with the introduction and demonstration of solutions including FPT.eHospital 2.0+, FPT.EMR electronic medical record management system, “Doctors for every home” software, etc.
