FPT joins hands with a US partner – Silvaco – to develop the semiconductor sector on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to the US
On September 22, in New York, USA, FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company (FPT Semiconductor) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Silvaco (USA) regarding human resources and business development in the semiconductor sector. The signing ceremony is witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the Vietnamese Government.
Accordingly, the two companies commit to cooperate and develop human resources for semiconductor companies in the US, with the involvement of FPT University. The parties will establish the Vietnam Semiconductor Education Center to promote semiconductor talents according to the Government’s program.
In addition, FPT will move intellectual properties to Silvaco’s platform for Silvaco to provide to customers. The two companies will also cooperate in business development in the fields of StandardCell, IO, and Memory design. In the long term, Silvaco is set to be the strategic investor of FPT Semiconductor.
Meanwhile, FPT Semiconductor will be the exclusive distributor of Silvaco’s software in the semiconductor sector in Vietnam.
Silvaco was founded in 1984, operating in the fields of software, automation and semiconductor. The company is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and has offices in North America, Europe and across Asia.

Previously, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has worked with CEOs of leading US enterprises in the field of semiconductor. According to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, this is the next step to implement cooperative activities between organizations and businesses in the US semiconductor sector with Vietnamese partners to open up opportunities for market expansion and enhancement of Vietnam’s capacity in the sector.
On September 11, 2023, on the occasion of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, has announced a strategy of investment into the US to develop high-quality AI talents and promote the development of the semiconductor sector in Vietnam. FPT Corporation has also announced a comprehensive strategic cooperation with LandingAI – a company pioneering in the field of machine vision and AI in the Silicon Valley in the US – to accelerate the process of bringing AI into education programs at FPT Education.
FPT is the first enterprise in Vietnam to produce commercial chips and provide design services for power chips. Currently, FPT is focusing on expanding the semiconductor and AI segments. According to Chairman Truong Gia Binh, Vietnam has what it takes to build a strong position in terms of AI. Besides, there are opportunities for Vietnam in general and FPT in particular to grow even faster in the digital field.
