HTIT and FPT launch digital transformation project to enhance enterprise management and strengthen Northern Vietnam’s logistics leadership position
On July 28, Haiphong Port TIL International Terminal Company Limited – HTIT (a subsidiary of Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company) and FPT Corporation officially launched a project to implement the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
The project aims to establish a modern, internationally benchmarked enterprise management platform for the region, seamlessly integrated with the Terminal Operating System (TOS). It represents a concrete step in realizing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development and application of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation – where transport and logistics infrastructure is identified as one of the key sectors requiring breakthroughs to enhance national competitiveness.
FPT and HTIT Kick Off SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Project
The project will focus on the comprehensive deployment of key software platforms, including Finance and Accounting (FICO), Procurement Management, Warehouse Management, and integration with the Terminal Operating System (TOS). This will establish a synchronized, seamlessly connected data platform to maximize operational efficiency in port operations. The SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system will be customized to suit HTIT’s operational requirements and integrated with advanced technologies such as SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), Data Warehouse, IoT, and Machine Learning to enable real-time data analytics, supporting agile management, flexible operations, and timely decision-making for business strategy.
Amid the Vietnamese seaport and logistics sectors’ rapid push toward technology adoption to enhance competitiveness, the ERP implementation at HTIT holds strategic significance. According to the Ministry of Transport, cargo throughput at Vietnamese seaports in 2024 is estimated to reach over 750 million tonnes, up nearly 6% year-on-year. However, logistics costs remain high – at around 16.8% of GDP, significantly exceeding the global average of 10–11%, largely due to fragmented technology infrastructure and limited management capabilities.
As a core subsidiary of Port of Hai Phong JSC – Northern Vietnam’s leading port operator, HTIT plays a critical role in the region’s maritime logistics modernization strategy. Once operating at full capacity, HTIT’s terminal is projected to contribute 40% of Port of Hai Phong’s container cargo market share and 60% of non-container cargo in the region. By proactively investing in advanced management systems, HTIT aims not only to optimize internal operations but also to drive standardization and efficiency across the wider supply chain.
The SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system is scheduled to go live on October 20, 2025. This digital transformation of operational management is expected to strengthen HTIT’s resource control, optimize business processes and financial management, and establish a fully integrated data flow across the entire operational chain – from port operations to logistics services.
