FPT executive: “FPT is committed to seizing opportunities in the semiconductor industry together with Da Nang and Vietnam”
Da Nang, August 30, 2025 – Within the framework of Da Nang Finance and Tech Week 2025, FPT was honored to participate in Da Nang Semiconductor Microchip Day 2025. At the event, Mr. Tran Dang Hoa – Chairman of FPT IS – shared FPT’s vision for developing a semiconductor ecosystem in close collaboration with Da Nang and Vietnam, with the ambition of making the city a “Silicon Bay” of the region. On this occasion, FPT also signed cooperation agreements with PlasmaTherm and the Da Nang Semiconductor and AI Center (DSAC) to deploy VR-based training solutions that standardize processes and strengthen high-quality human resources in semiconductor development, in alignment with Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
Da Nang Semiconductor Microchip Day 2025 was co-organized by the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Central Committee for Strategy and Policy, as part of Da Nang Finance and Technology Week 2025. The event welcomed more than 400 delegates, including leaders of central agencies, representatives of diplomatic missions, scientists, experts, educators, students, technology corporations, and domestic and international investors.
Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, delivered the opening remarks
Opening the event, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, highlighted that after more than a year of focused efforts, the city has made significant strides across four pillars: policy, infrastructure, human resources, and investment attraction.
From only eight initial design firms, Da Nang’s semiconductor ecosystem has now expanded to 25 enterprises spanning design, packaging, and testing, with the presence of leading technology corporations underscoring Da Nang’s growing position on Vietnam’s semiconductor map.
FPT’s commitment to advancing Vietnam’s “Silicon Bay” vision
The highlight of the program was a series of thematic seminars focusing on foundational technologies for the future, particularly solutions for supply chain connectivity and cleanroom infrastructure serving chip manufacturing and packaging in Vietnam.
Mr. Tran Dang Hoa – Chairman of FPT IS and FPT Semiconductor, FPT Corporation shared his insights at the event
Speaking at the seminar on August 30, Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS and FPT Semiconductor, emphasized FPT’s strategic direction in the presentation “Developing the FPT Semiconductor Ecosystem: From Talent to Make in Vietnam Chips.” He stated: “As the nation celebrates the 80th anniversary of National Day, FPT wishes to spread the spirit of patriotism – and contributing to the semiconductor industry is, for us, an act of patriotism and a commitment to Vietnam’s future.”
He noted that amid global supply chain realignment, Vietnam is emerging as a new destination, following the successful paths of Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan. Vietnam’s greatest advantage, he stressed, lies in its high-quality human capital – from overseas Vietnamese experts returning to contribute, to international corporations transferring technology and training, and to pioneering domestic enterprises such as FPT.
With Da Nang possessing all the conditions to “move first and move fast” in semiconductors through the strong synergy of government–academia–business, FPT reaffirmed its determination to work alongside the city in building a regional hub for semiconductors and high technology.
FPT reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside Da Nang and Vietnam in advancing Make in Vietnam chip development, with the ambition to compete on equal footing with global players
FPT entered the semiconductor industry more than a decade ago, charting a distinctive path by focusing on niche markets. Since 2022, the Group has produced power management chips that meet Japan’s rigorous standards, receiving over 70 million orders from leading printer and camera manufacturers. Alongside, FPT has invested heavily in testing services (OSAT), training programs with the National Innovation Center, and R&D initiatives to design next-generation chips.
FPT also advances semiconductor workforce development through multi-level programs, from international university and college curricula to specialized certifications. Its 2+2 model allows students to study two years at FPT and two years in advanced technology centers in Korea, Taiwan, and elsewhere, giving them direct exposure to cutting-edge technologies.
Echoing its success story in software exports two decades ago, FPT envisions the next 20 years as a journey to realize Vietnam’s dream of leadership in AI and semiconductors. The near-term goal: to design and test high-quality Make in Vietnam chips that compete on equal footing with global players, with Da Nang as the heart of this endeavor.
Strategic partnerships in VR-powered semiconductor training
On August 30, FPT signed cooperation agreements with PlasmaTherm and Da Nang Semiconductor and AI Center (DSAC) to deploy virtual reality (VR) solutions for training, simulating semiconductor production processes, maintenance, and safety operations.
FPT signed a cooperation agreement with PlasmaTherm
With PlasmaTherm, FPT will develop VR-based training modules for semiconductor manufacturing, reducing risks, optimizing costs, and standardizing technical knowledge. PlasmaTherm will provide detailed technical content and process expertise, while FPT will digitize scenarios into interactive 3D training experiences.
With DSAC, FPT will provide VR platforms that simulate cleanroom and chip production environments, ensuring both safety and flexibility compared to direct training on real equipment. Established in 2024, the DSAC is dedicated to training and developing talent in semiconductor and AI design; supporting investment attraction in these fields; fostering collaboration with domestic and international partners; and promoting research, innovation, and incubation of startups in semiconductor and AI design.

These collaborations focus on modules covering operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety; transforming technical documentation into standardized training scripts; and designing interactive 3D models. Pilot testing and user feedback will refine and scale solutions to meet the fast-growing demand for VR/AR applications in manufacturing, including semiconductors.
Developed by FPT, the VR Training solution pioneers the application of digital technology in semiconductor education. The system digitally simulates 100% of real environments and equipment, enabling learners to practice operations and safety protocols in a risk-free, cost-efficient virtual setting. This innovation not only enhances training quality but also contributes to implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW, advancing Vietnam’s ambition to become a regional semiconductor hub.
