FPT and TR South Korea join hands to boost AI applications in smart healthcare
FPT Corporation and TR Corporation (South Korea) signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a partnership to promote the application of advanced technologies, especially AI, in smart healthcare for chronic disease management in Vietnam.
FPT Corporation and TR Corporation (South Korea) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote AI applications in smart healthcare for chronic disease management.
Specifically, the two parties officially cooperated to research, develop and integrate Spirokit – TR’s smart lung function measuring device applying artificial intelligence (AI) into FPT’s Chronic Care Management System.
This collaboration lays the groundwork for an advanced chronic disease management model, enabling patients to proactively monitor their health at home with greater accuracy. At the same time, doctors can remotely access real-time data to provide more effective treatment plans.
According to statistics, approximately 21% of Vietnam’s population suffers from non-communicable chronic diseases, most commonly cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Notably, air quality in major urban areas such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has reached alarming levels, significantly increasing respiratory disease rates. The prevalence of COPD in Vietnam stands at 10.3%, the highest in the Asia-Pacific region. Most patients still rely on in-person periodic check-ups or self-treatment, leading to challenges for both patients and the healthcare system. As a result, the application of digital health technologies to monitor and optimize chronic disease treatment has become an urgent need and a major challenge for Vietnam’s healthcare system.
With over 36 years of experience working alongside the government, businesses, and organizations across various sectors, FPT has developed and implemented digital solutions for many industries, including healthcare. In addressing the chronic disease management challenge, FPT experts are currently researching and developing specialized software systems to help patients detect early symptoms and monitor their health from home. These systems connect vital sign monitoring devices with mobile applications. Simultaneously, all data is continuously synchronized with medical facilities, ensuring close coordination with healthcare professionals. This allows doctors to track patient conditions, provide personalized care plans, and respond promptly to critical situations.
TR is a Korean digital healthcare company, specializing in the development and production of medical devices based on artificial intelligence (AI). TR has been selected by the Korean government to implement many important projects, such as the project of the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises & Startups, the Ministry of Science & ICT, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs… Spirokit is a product that has been researched and developed by TR for many years, supporting the early detection of respiratory diseases, typically chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with high accuracy, a compact design, and the ability to automatically connect to digital health systems, helping patients easily proactively monitor their health status at home.
The partnership between FPT and TR represents a strategic move toward delivering comprehensive solutions and suitable medical devices for at-home monitoring. It aims to maximize the effectiveness of FPT’s Chronic Care Management System, creating a holistic healthcare support platform that bridges the gap between patients and hospitals.
Mr. Choi Kyusik, TR Corporation (South Korea) expressed his expectation of cooperation with FPT.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Choi Kyusik, Global Director of TR Corporation (South Korea), emphasized: “Vietnam is one of TR’s key markets, where we aim to introduce smart healthcare solutions to enhance the quality of medical care. Spirokit not only supports more accurate diagnosis and monitoring of respiratory diseases but also helps optimize treatment processes through advanced technology. With the mission of bringing modern medical products closer to patients, we believe that our partnership with FPT will help Spirokit reach a wider audience in Vietnam and serve as a foundation for introducing more innovative solutions in the future.”
Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, FPT Corporation, shared the goal of improving the quality of diagnosis, management, and treatment of chronic diseases using AI technology.
“Given the challenges in chronic disease management within the healthcare sector, FPT is continuously researching and developing remote health monitoring solutions to help individuals proactively manage their conditions, while reducing pressure on healthcare staff. In today’s context, where artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly vital role in healthcare, many countries around the world have already applied AI to assist in diagnosis, personalized treatment, and remote health monitoring. In South Korea, AI has been widely implemented in major hospitals, optimizing the medical examination and treatment process and reducing pressure on healthcare staff. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the digital transformation of healthcare is accelerating, with many hospitals investing in AI systems to improve the quality of medical services. We believe this collaboration with TR Corporation will open up opportunities to enhance the quality of chronic disease diagnosis, management, and treatment through AI, contributing to the digital transformation of Vietnam’s healthcare system and improving public health outcomes, while aligning with global digital healthcare trends.”, Mr. Pham Thanh Tung—EVP & Director of Healthcare Sector FPT IS, FPT Corporation shared.
FPT plans to work with TR to conduct clinical research at selected hospitals. In addition, FPT will support TR in applying technology to the manufacturing and distribution of medical equipment in the Vietnamese market.
On TR’s side, the company has committed to customizing its products to suit the specific requirements of the Vietnamese market, while continuously upgrading and improving its technologies through research and development activities. TR will provide research data and clinical validation reports as needed and will support FPT in training technical staff, enhancing data management capabilities, and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into digital healthcare solutions.
