FPT joins hands in driving digital culture through the power of technology
Recently, at the Vietnam National Digital Forum 2026 (DIGIFEST 2026), organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology under the theme “Developing Digital Platforms and Digital Services, Bringing Activities into the Digital Environment,” government agencies, experts, and technology enterprises discussed strategic directions for advancing Vietnam’s national digital transformation. Among the topics highlighted was the application of technology to preserve and promote cultural values and heritage, which is increasingly viewed as an important pathway to creating new growth drivers from the nation’s cultural soft power. At the forum, FPT shared its perspective on the role of technology in bringing Vietnamese culture closer to the public and expanding its reach in the digital era.

As an annual event organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, DIGIFEST 2026 brought together leaders of government agencies, experts, technology enterprises, and international organizations to discuss strategic directions for Vietnam’s national digital transformation. Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Dang Thanh Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, along with representatives of government agencies, digital transformation experts, technology enterprises, and international organizations.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized that, as the world rapidly shifts toward digitally enabled governance models and the digital economy continues to expand, Vietnam’s digital transformation must enter a new stage of development to become a key driver of economic growth and improved quality of life.
The decision to host DIGIFEST 2026 in Ninh Binh also carried special significance. As the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, home to more than 5,000 historical and cultural relics and the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex—a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site—Ninh Binh is pursuing a vision of becoming a “green, modern, and smart heritage city.” For a locality with such extensive cultural resources, digital transformation is not only a tool to improve governance efficiency but also a strategic solution for preserving, promoting, and creating new value from heritage assets. This is also a challenge that many localities across Vietnam are seeking to address as they pursue development rooted in both culture and technology.

In this context, Mr. Vu Duy Thanh, Director of akaVerse Center at FPT Corporation, delivered a key message: technology does not replace culture; rather, it enables Vietnamese culture to thrive more vibrantly, reach farther, and resonate with people around the world.
In the digital era, the central question is no longer how to preserve culture, but how to enable it to live, spread, and create value. In many places, precious cultural assets remain quietly preserved within historical sites, museums, or collective memory. Bringing them to life and making them accessible to millions of people through engaging, immersive, and easily accessible experiences is precisely where technology plays its role.
This vision is closely aligned with the orientations set out in Resolution No. 57 on science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Resolution No. 80 on cultural development. While Resolution 57-NQ/TW identifies science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of national development, Resolution 80 aims to position culture as an intrinsic strength and a vital resource for growth. Together, these two resolutions open a new path for Vietnam: leveraging technology to preserve, promote, and generate new value from cultural assets.
Along this journey, FPT has chosen to play the role of a trusted partner, guided by two parallel pillars: preservation and promotion. Preservation involves digitizing heritage down to the finest details and building comprehensive, accurate digital databases to safeguard cultural values for future generations. Promotion means bringing heritage beyond traditional physical spaces and making it more vivid through technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the metaverse. In this way, people can do more than simply observe artifacts or heritage sites—they can actively explore, interact with, and experience cultural stories in entirely new ways.
To realize this vision, FPT is developing the FPT Culture Tech ecosystem, built on core technologies mastered by Vietnamese engineers. From heritage digitization and digital museums to virtual exhibitions and digital cultural experience platforms, these solutions aim to bring culture closer to the public while expanding access to Vietnamese cultural values for tourists and international communities.
According to Mr. Vu Duy Thanh, digital transformation in the cultural sector is not merely about applying technology. It is a journey to create new ways for people to connect with history, identity, and the values that have shaped the nation. When technology is positioned appropriately, culture can not only be preserved more effectively but can also become a new source of development for localities, tourism, and the creative economy.
Through the FPT Culture Tech ecosystem, FPT is committed to accompanying local governments, cultural organizations, and communities in realizing the goals of Resolution 57 and Resolution 80, helping bring Vietnamese culture closer to the Vietnamese people while sharing the nation’s unique cultural values with the world through the power of Vietnamese technology.
