FPT Launches High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center at Da Nang’s Software Park No. 2
On March 27, 2025, FPT Corporation officially inaugurated its High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center at Software Park No. 2, Da Nang City. This marks a significant step in FPT’s strong commitment to partnering with the city to promote science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, realizing the aspiration to create a “Silicon Bay” that nurtures “Make in Vietnam” technology products and implements key Resolutions such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 136/2024/QH15.
The distinguished ceremony was graced by high-ranking officials from Da Nang City, key leaders from municipal Departments and Centers, representatives from prominent technology enterprises, and esteemed faculty members from the city’s leading universities.
FPT launched the first High-Tech and Semiconductor Chip R&D Center at Software Park No. 2, Da Nang City.
Strategically located within Da Nang’s Software Park No. 2, FPT’s High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center spans nearly 3,000 square meters, benefiting from the modern technological hub’s facilities and a prime seafront location. The establishment of this R&D Center is a tangible step in realizing FPT Corporation’s comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, announced in January 2025. This agreement outlines a collaborative investment in research, technology development, and talent cultivation within the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors. FPT is also the first technology entity to commence operations at Da Nang’s Software Park No. 2, poised to become a pivotal nucleus within the city’s burgeoning technology ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Member of the Standing Board of Da Nang Municipal Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Chairman, remarked, “In alignment with Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Da Nang has identified the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as a paramount strategic breakthrough and a primary driver for socio-economic progress. Furthermore, the National Assembly’s issuance of Resolution 136/2024/QH15, which pilots specific mechanisms for Da Nang’s development, aiming to propel the city into a modern, specialized economic zone that significantly contributes to the nation’s overall advancement, heralds a new era of expansive vision and catalyzes Da Nang’s dynamic transformation.”

Da Nang aims for its digital economy to contribute 35-40% to the city’s GRDP by 2030. Concurrently, with robust advancements in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, Da Nang is poised to become a leading hub for digital technology industries and innovation in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Within this vision, artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor microchips are identified as strategic spearheads, unlocking Da Nang’s future potential. The city targets to cultivate at least 5,000 skilled engineers in the microchip and semiconductor sectors by 2030, including 2,000 design engineers and 3,000 packaging and testing engineers/technicians. Da Nang is vigorously implementing programs to support research, technology development, talent training, and formulating specialized policies to attract domestic and international technology enterprises.
The inauguration of FPT’s High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center, the first to operate in Software Park No. 2, further establishes a foundation, a new impetus, and a fresh mindset for the city’s advancement in the new era. “We anticipate that the center will rapidly attract talent and develop world-class products. The city commits to providing the most favorable conditions and continuing to refine mechanisms and policies to position itself as a premier high-tech and innovation hub,” Mr. Minh affirmed.
FPT’s High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center in Da Nang is envisioned as a pivotal “Tech Hub,” the birthplace of cutting-edge technology products bearing the hallmark “Made by FPT – Make in Vietnam.” The goal is to assemble 500 technology experts by 2025, with continuous expansion planned for the future. This hub will drive the research and development of 100% Made by FPT products, with an anticipated average of 10 new products launched annually, addressing real-world societal challenges. It will also serve as a nexus connecting regional startups, fostering knowledge sharing, and propagating a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the business community.

In the semiconductor domain, FPT firmly believes that human talent is Da Nang’s core asset in its strategy to become a semiconductor hub. FPT will collaborate on research, technology solution development, talent training, and the provision of scholarships and employment opportunities for students specializing in semiconductor microchips and artificial intelligence from Da Nang’s educational institutions. Beyond the ongoing expansion of microchip design in Da Nang, FPT is venturing into new areas such as advanced packaging and ATE testing within the city’s high-tech and non-tariff zones.”

FPT has cultivated a robust and enduring partnership with Da Nang City for over 20 years, marked by significant milestones. In 2024, FPT contributed VND 176.6 billion to the state budget of Da Nang.
