FPT and SGS Vietnam join hands to establish an integrated technology–certification cooperation model in greenhouse gas inventory
FPT Corporation and SGS Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in greenhouse gas inventory, ESG reporting, and verification and certification in accordance with international standards. The event marks the formation of a coordinated yet independent collaboration model, providing an integrated solution covering the entire process from data collection, calculation, reporting to verification and certification, while ensuring objectivity and data reliability.
FPT and SGS Vietnam join hands to establish an integrated technology–certification cooperation model in greenhouse gas inventory.
Accordingly, the two parties combine FPT’s technological capabilities with SGS Vietnam’s independent assessment, verification and certification capabilities to provide businesses with a comprehensive solution for greenhouse gas inventory and ESG reporting.
FPT provides the VertZéro greenhouse gas inventory software along with related technology services, ensuring technical quality, security safety and system operation for joint projects.
SGS conducts independent verification and validation in accordance with international standards and does not participate in building methodologies or data systems in order to ensure objectivity and maintain independence in certification activities. In addition to jointly implementing projects for clients, the two parties also agree to accompany each other in workshops, communications and market development activities.
The cooperation between the two parties helps form a seamless service value chain, in which data is digitized and standardized from the outset, and then verified by an independent party in accordance with global standards. This approach helps businesses shorten implementation time, enhance data reliability and be ready to meet increasingly stringent ESG requirements, especially as the carbon market and sustainability standards are gradually taking shape.
Recently, SGS conducted independent verification and validation in accordance with ISO 14064-3 for the greenhouse gas inventory report for Scope 1 and Scope 2 developed in accordance with ISO 14064-1 for MB Bank, based on the emissions data system built and managed using the VertZéro software developed by FPT. This is a greenhouse gas inventory solution that helps businesses automate data aggregation, calculate emissions in accordance with international methodologies and generate reports in standard formats. In Vietnam, this platform has also been applied in a number of enterprises in manufacturing, finance and services to support emissions inventory and sustainable development roadmap building.
MB Bank receives ISO 14064-1 certification from SGS Vietnam for the greenhouse gas inventory report built on FPT’s VertZéro platform.
Accordingly, in April 2025, FPT deployed VertZéro for MB Bank to digitize the entire process of collecting and managing carbon emissions data in operations. Data is centralized, standardized and reported in standard formats, creating the basis for SGS to conduct independent verification before issuing certification. MB Bank obtaining ISO 14064-1 certification is a practical proof of the end-to-end cooperation model between FPT and SGS. This model opens a new approach for Vietnamese enterprises: instead of implementing each stage separately, businesses can access an integrated service ecosystem where technology and international standards go hand in hand from the outset, as the carbon market is gradually forming and ESG requirements become increasingly stringent.
Vietnam has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, and requirements for emissions inventory and data transparency are becoming mandatory obligations for many enterprises. According to Decree No. 06/2022/NĐ-CP, facilities with large emissions are required to conduct periodic greenhouse gas inventories and prepare for the roadmap to operate the carbon market from 2028. This not only requires businesses to build systematic measurement – reporting – verification systems, but also to ensure that data is independently verified in accordance with international standards, especially as ESG criteria increasingly directly affect access to capital and participation in global supply chains. The combination of digital data platforms and international verification and certification capabilities is no longer an optional addition, but has become a key condition for businesses to simultaneously meet domestic compliance requirements and global standards.
Ms. Nguyen Nam Tran – SGS Vietnam shared about the important foundation helping businesses enhance credibility when participating in global markets and value chains in the current context.
Sharing about the cooperation with FPT, Ms. Nguyen Nam Tran – Regional Manager, Business Assurance Solutions, SGS Indonesia & Vietnam – expressed: “SGS always focuses on independence, transparency and traceability of data in all verification and certification activities. The cooperation with FPT – an organization possessing a technology platform for emissions data management – helps form a closed-loop process, in which data is standardized from the input stage and verified according to strict international standards. This is an important foundation for businesses not only to meet domestic compliance requirements, but also to enhance credibility when participating in global markets and value chains.”
Mr. Dang Truong Thach – FPT expects the cooperation to create a technology ecosystem helping businesses quickly meet the Net Zero roadmap.
From FPT’s side, Mr. Dang Truong Thach – Executive Vice President and Deputy General Director of FPT IS, FPT Corporation – agreed: “Green transformation has entered a stage where emissions data must be managed as a strategic asset. Businesses not only need calculation tools, but also an integrated process that ensures data accuracy, transparency and verification according to international standards. Cooperation with SGS allows FPT to connect technological capabilities with a global certification system, thereby providing the market with a comprehensive solution, reducing compliance risks and quickly enhancing the ESG disclosure value of Vietnamese enterprises.”
SGS is currently a global leading group in testing, inspection and certification, headquartered in Switzerland and present in more than 115 countries. With global reputation and more than 145 years of expertise in compliance assurance, SGS plays an important role in ensuring transparency and reliability for emissions and sustainability reports.
Meanwhile, FPT is a global technology corporation with more than 37 years of experience in digital transformation, present in 31 countries and mastering the “Made by FPT” technology ecosystem. In the field of green transformation, FPT develops VertZéro – a greenhouse gas inventory software with more than 90,000 emission factors, currently serving enterprises in 190 countries and connecting more than 30 partners in the global green transformation ecosystem.
The cooperation between FPT and SGS therefore does not stop at a bilateral agreement, but aims to establish a new standard for the greenhouse gas inventory and verification service market in Vietnam. When technology and international certification capabilities are integrated into a unified value chain, businesses can be more confident in meeting domestic and international legal requirements, satisfying ESG criteria of international investors, and gradually realizing sustainable development goals associated with the country’s Net Zero commitment.
